Not sure I really believe anything in this article. Especially given this site's reputation for Fox News style "reporting"(meaning made up BS).

And yet so many critical open source projects have had majorly serious security bugs that have gone undiscovered or unfixed FOR YEARS. Despite the claims otherwise (with 0 proof), FOSS has next to no advantage in the security realm vs propr

Not difficult no. But certainly not anywhere close to the 0 extra effort required by an app developer to support other platforms with Electron as it currently is.

So feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong. I thought the biggest draw to Electron was that it was a single stable platform that worked and looked the same everywhere. I feel like (based on that) any attempts to move to OS bundl

>I would literally add "30% Apple Tax" to the check out screen... I've heard from other iOS devs in a similar bind that Apple forbids you from doing anything to recover the 30% cut they take. You either just have to eat it

I was initially thinking it was to prevent security research so they don't end up getting fined again for pushing buggy insecure garbage. I quickly reversed that thinking, knowing DLink's rep for pushing buggy insecure garbage.

I don't understand all the hype here. It did better on one half of the test by way less than 100 points, and got beat on the other half by over 300. Not that impressive.

Depends on which side of the "tab vs spaces" debate you're on I'd think (I'd personally consider it a bug to not be able to handle both)

Any repair shop "authorized" or not has the same opportunity to do whatever they want to your device, regardless of the "strict auditing" or w/e that's in place.

Google Play Services was never open. You can however still submit changes to the actual OS though. People said the same thing about Android in its early days. It was wrong then, still wrong now, and will likely be just as wrong in the futur

I'd hardly consider projects (ie Flutter and Dart) that both had releases in the last week to be "abandoned".

But Ford doesn't build their cars from Toyota parts and software and then just slap their logo on it and call it a day. So I'm not so sure that's a great analogy.

So this release is exciting for me, because it contains my first ever open source contribution, in the form of a setting that allows one to disable that annoying dialog box that pops up when you close a window with multiple open tabs.

There's a tool that been in win10 for a while now that shows exactly what data is collected. It shows exactly what component of the OS is collecting it. Go in to the Settings app > Privacy > Diagnostics & Feedback and scroll

The version of the Linux kernel used in Android implements a custom IPC mechanism called Binder that userspace services and apps use, which I think (though I could be wrong) is based on some kind of also custom-made shared memory facility.

VS itself isn't fully 64 bit. All the important bits are (like the compilers and such) just not the main VS app. Also they aren't very good at the collecting part if they let you just disable, and make it known that you can, while

Actually sponge is just an API, for which there just happens to be a implementation built with Forge There's also a plain Vanilla impl as well.
