The use case really speaks to me, but I'm not convinced that decentralization is going to help datasets not to get lost. I spent a while trying to download recent updates to the Reddit comment corpus [1], which is hosted on BitTorrent.

Well, thanks for telling me what I do, that was very informative, except for the fact that it's all nonsense. You are posturing.

"All organizations which already have a Hadoop cluster are adopting Spark" is not a very interesting claim. Here's how I would leverage Hadoop infrastructure to use Pandas: delete Hadoop so I've got more disk space to ru

No, "all organizations" are not adopting Spark. You do not need Spark to use dataframes. And distributed computing is terrible for machine learning. Maybe you've worked at a job or two where nobody can comprehend not using

I'm aware of this principle, but I don't find it boring at all that more people on HN are willing to downvote accessibility than upvote it. It's horrifying. People with zero empathy are influencing the future of technology. I

The fact that this comment is starting to fade due to downvotes makes quite a statement about HN.

Oh, I apologize for misinterpreting you. So many of these threads end up with people who think they can replace government with Bitcoin, and I read it in that tone. Incidentally, I believe that there is also a considerable amount of private

Are you expecting gasps of horror in response to your simplistic statement? Oh, no, not the state ! Not everybody here is an anarcho-capitalist.

I wouldn't assume it's malice either, but I'm glad it's being mentioned. There's a trend right now where researchers and reviewers have no respect for data, even as research uses more and more data. They don't
