I'm observing that developers these days are quite surprised to see anyone write code for OpenGL / WebGL directly instead of using some layer of abstraction on top, such as Three.js or Unity etc. Few seem to know that OpenGL alrea

Unfortunately the candy bit is not the only bad piece of advice on the list. It's honestly a very mixed bag. > Anything you say before the word “but” does not count. This gets repeated a lot but it's still BS. Lots of things ar

Interesting bits about pulsed LiDAR. Is there any camera available to buy on the market that uses this technology?

Nope. Structured light is projecting a geometric pattern into the scene and viewing it from from a camera that's offset by some amount vs. the projector. The original Kinect works this way.

This is not a "true" LiDAR in the classical sense (where you send out a laser beam and measure time passed until return). It's rather an indirect ToF sensor that uses modulated light bursts that flood the entire scene. This a

Unfortunately not everything compresses well with QOI. I have considered using it for our company but then did some tests with real images from real (noisy, low-res) cameras. The result is that in many cases QOI did not offer much compressi

Big thank you to the authors. What a fantastic resource. It's very refreshing to see these concepts broken down in short and concise language, packed with information and no BS.

I definitely need to use Monterey, as it offers simple APIs for certain tasks that would be possible, but very time consuming, to recreate on other OS. The M1 is optional, theoretically, but in practice makes things go much faster due to it

Thanks! On the macOS side, you would need an application (in whatever language you prefer), that pulls events on Pub/Sub topic, I assume there's an easy way for my server to talk to Google Cloud's pub/sub?

Ok, so how is this remotely the same as PCs being cheaper? Well because to some people this matters a great deal. Why? Because much of the power held by large companies (and by governments) comes from the fact that they operate and control

Do yourself a favour and install Qt (it's free if you choose the LGPL version) and start building apps with QML / Qt Quick, which is Qt's language for UIs. As a Bonus: your app can also work on Android and iOS. If you're

Interesting that Svelte hasn't come up yet. Personally I find it to be the only sane web framework out there. Easy to learn, little boilerplate code, very well structured, very fast. Give it a try!
