Apparently, Matthew Flatt Made finishing the switch to Chez Scheme a priority and I think that work on Honu is picking up now that's done. But it's not in the implementation stage yet.

Indeed, but in this case the racket lisp syntax is also here to stay, and I expect many experienced programmers to keep using it. So, we'll see... let's hope for the best!

You can completely silence all alarms on anesthesia and icu monitors, even though it's forbidden to do so. Or do you mean for the surgeon? Well, unfortunately not all surgeons come with an off switch.

I also find myself at home with lisp syntax. However it would be very interesting to have a well-supported mainstream syntax regarding the accessibility of the runtime. Incidentally, this was the main stated goal: be more accessible to stud

Just for giggles: anesthesia & icu alarms have off switches too. For cases where, for example the surgeon complains that he can't concentrate because of the noise. Additional fun fact: you've got an off switch but it's ac

The Racket people are attempting to do that in a new way with the Honu language, to truly have Lisp powers with an alternate syntax. It's probably going to replace racket as the main language on the racket runtime: https://w

Not so long ago, I got detained by TSA because I lost the address of my US destination. Note that I had previously been employed in the US and had no legal issues standing. That's also the day I vowed to never set foot on US soil again

Are you really sure you are not missing some pieces of the puzzle, here? Well, I'm an epidemiologist and I'm quite sure you are missing some pieces. The systematic failure of this crisis is nothing compared to the societal failure

TBF, (experienced) docs usually believe their patients even when they tell weird stuff, but: 1. we tend to overlay our own interpretation over what is described. Because that's pretty much the only way if we are to hope to do something

Let's just say that it's really difficult not to break anything during CPR in general. Especially because the patient is often old and fragile. On young people, it's much easier.

I am a doc and would absolutely die peacefully at home. You don't understand what aggressive treatments really entail because you've never seen it yourself. FYI, docs would earn more by advising to treat and you are being delusion

For practicing day-to-day medicine, programming is useless. However, for a medical student hoping to become an academic it's a highly important asset. Others and even more fundamental assets are to have solid knowledge of epidemiology

Racket allows process-based parallelism (multiprocessing in python) and also has (less useful) futures. It also has green threads. Performance is very much ok for most tasks, although clearly the most performant lisp is Common Lisp. Now, fr
