I tried Kimi K2.6 but came away underwhelmed -- it is much more expensive / slow but does not feel better to me. Haven't tried the GLM series.

This was reverted for us employees in OBBB and companies can refile taxes for what they couldn't use as an expense in the intervening time. I think the impact of this is generally overstated

I'm not sure I'd call it "almost on the frontier," but I do think that v4 Pro is the most usable coding model I've seen out of China. I've used it via Ollama Cloud (coding) and OpenRouter (data processing). Fee

I've had a decent experience with ollama cloud. It is slower than going thru openrouter but much, much cheaper -- the generosity of their $20 plan reminds me of what the Claude Code $20 plan was back in the day

Ever since agents came out I had been lost trying to figure out what I should replace my heavy IntelliJ with. I switched fully over to Zed once they shipped the git graph in stable [0] and couldn't be happier. Congrats on 1.0! [0] htt

I'm confused. If you have detailed, specific expectations, why aren't using the best model available? Even if you were using Opus 4.7, I would inquire if you're using high/xhigh effort by default. Feels crazy to me for p

Meta has about 10% more employees now than they did at the end of 2021. They currently have less than half the employees of Google or Apple; only a third of Microsoft. If you're right, the rest of big tech is in a much worse position.

It's hard to compare these numbers directly since valuations have increased quite a bit since a quarter century ago. As a proportion of the S&P 500, Tesla (2.3%) is about 4x of Enron at that $70b (0.6%).

So funny to see the recommendation here (track bedtime/wake-time, compute your average cycle length, predict the next bedtime from it, and don't deviate in either direction) be similar to how spaced repetition is typically sold to

Some recent examples: GPT-4o vs. Google I/O (May 2024): OpenAI scheduled its "Spring Update" exactly 24 hours before Google’s biggest event of the year, Google I/O. They launched GPT-4o voice mode. Sora vs. Gemini 1.5 Pr

Great investigation. Slight aside, but I found the few typos that I noticed to make me feel better about continuing to read -- as a sign that the post wasn't AI-generated.

This is giving the "ultra-processed" term too much credit. Organic is at least pretty explicitly specified by the USDA (even if that definition is perhaps not what most people think or expect when they read the term). Ultra-proces

Many, if not most, donations have limits / requirements on what the money can be spent on. That's why it's such a big deal when someone doesn't make such a demand and says the grant is "unrestricted."

You can use non-USD currencies to judge how the US stock market has fared to avoid the issues with currency health. You may argue that dollar-denominated returns aren't real, but SPY isn't down even when denominated in EUR https:

Looks like Prince Alwaleed bin Talal's ownership of Fox was between 5.5% to 7% during the two-decade period of 1997 ~ 2017. He divested during an anti-corruption purge.
