I'm pretty sure they do, but the explosive (literally) nature of the situation negated all of them. A few people died in the original incident, iirc. The one safety measure of note is the relief well. They're not required to drill them alon

It's relevant as an unsolved engineering problem. We're all waiting to see which "hack" is going to finally work.

As far as we can tell, the only users who have been confused are ones who have followed HootSuite short URLs.

They won't. The app does work like a Twitter client when you're inside it though. Still some users missing that, so we're working on something to communicate the process better. It's actually been interesting to see how hard the new wave of

Good idea. I'll try to think of a way to integrate something like that.

Thanks. As for HootSuite: not really. A couple of users have been confused so far, but that's it. We're using the owl because it's a bird (and we're using Twitter) and because of the associations with wisdom/learning.

Make a site that "learns" by asking designers. Or just make a site that claims to, and then you have somewhere you can post your color schemes every time you need to test one.

I think "personal" was attached to let people know that it was a computer, but not the size of your living room. And not something you'd have to rent out by the hour. But still, good points. I don't know if I'm ready to shell out 500 bucks

I had a lot of trouble with this as a newbie to Javascript. Glad to see it posted, even if it's months and months late for me.

Kinda curious about how this stacks up to Cappucino ( http://cappuccino.org/ ) Has anyone tried both? I'm thinking about diving head-first into one of these, so I'd love any direction on which is better for a programming newbie.

I imagine the event sucks a little bit more if you're a journalist. Or an attractive woman. The author is both, which probably makes for the worst SXSW experience possible. The theft and hit-and-run are the cherry on top.

Thanks. That's the kind of reply I was looking for. I guess it will depend a lot on how people implement disclosures over the next few years. When HTML6 comes around, hopefully I'll get a chance to dust off this article.

I've sensationalized nothing. I've laid out my arguments for the new tag in plain English. If you want to address the arguments, please do so, but don't dismiss my entire article as link bait just because the idea is radical. I've written o

I'd say the mere presence of it as a separate tag is the most important point. You're reading an article. It has a disclosure associated with it. Wouldn't you like to know that? I mentioned the possibilities of the situation arising in othe

Great points. There's definitely a grey area over whether it's structure or content. I'd say the same for the time tag, though. I'd argue that disclosure has only really become important recently. The FTC rulings took effect only four month

Any feedback on this? I'd appreciate it since I'm not especially familiar with the technical ins and outs of HTML5 or web standards in general. I know there's plenty on HN who could help me here.

A college professor once gave me some great advice: "Never fall in love with a typeface." She definitely wasn't talking about font elitism, but I think it applies there too.

Scratch that-- I had read something that said he didn't believe in charity... but he really just doesn't believe in aspects of it, or rather believes that capitalistic ventures are more beneficial.

When you're in the race for richest man in the world, it also helps not to believe in charity, especially when you're up against the likes of Bill Gates, who foolishly gives away billions.

I wonder if someone will develop a "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" for English pronunciation. Something you could read aloud that would cover all the sounds they needed to build something like this. It'd be a cool graduate pr
