There were a lot of guys at the Apple + PH event a few weeks ago, as with most startup/tech events in San Francisco from my experience.

I see. Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing that cross my "Product Hunt" search column on Twitter. That's not the first time someone has promoted their own product in that way but from my knowledge it's uncomm

Product Hunt started with my startup friends -- mostly guys, not dissimilar from Silicon Valley in general. You're absolutely right that Product Hunt needs more gender diversity and it's something we're working on. This topi

I (founder of PH) have the same question re: "Almost all of the people commenting on PH work for PH." You can see the list of people that are or have worked on Product Hunt on our about page ( http://www.producthunt.com

What were they tweeting exactly and why were they messaging people that voted for the product? We have seen founders reach out to people that upvoted on Twitter, thanking them for their support but that's different than what Austen de

HN and reddit are a lot more sophisticated with managing spam and abuse than we are today. They also have staff 100% focused on those challenges. We'll get there! :)

Thanks for the feedback -- I too really like the conversations with founders/builders. I'm actually testing threaded comments in staging right now (might release today) and soon after we are adding a "badge" next to the

I hear you, willu! Currently the product isn't ready for completely open comments. It will get unwieldy if there are 100+ comments on each product and we don't have the team to handle potential spam yet. We're in the proces

There are 600-800 VC's on Product Hunt and I know of at least three deals that have been sourced through the site: 1) Taptalk + SV Angel 2) Fitbay + Steadfast Ventures 3) Move Loot (YC) + Index Ventures And I'm sure there are seve

It's true many of my startup friends are on Product Hunt. I trust that they will add useful contributions to the site because I know them. But the majority of the people (95%+) aren't my "friends" per se. The communit

Agreed. Product Hunt and HN share a lot in common (and in part, HN inspired PH) but they're not competitive. They have different audiences and longer term they will look much different from one another.
