You actually do probably need your IT department to approve your use of Basecamp and Trello. It's very easy for project management and tracking tools to accommodate sensitive information like pending deals, new launches, or even PII.

I/O completion ports was always my go to answer for this but perhaps recent async improvements have helped close that gap? [see also https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11865760 for a lively discussion on this topic]

A distributed ledger is not more efficient than a centralized ledger. You give up efficiency in exchange for distributing the trust.

I don’t believe that for the Dravidian languages mutual intelligibility is common. I’m a Tamil speaker and I can’t understand any Telugu or Kannada - it sounds like people speaking Tamil underwater in a dream.

Linux does support async I/O to disks using various other interfaces/approaches - it’s just that the classic approach of select()’ing on non-blocking FDs doesn’t work for disk: https://blog.cloudflare.com/io_submit

The lawsuit was withdrawn; VMware is no longer using GPLed drivers. No precedent was established as to whether their prior use actually was a derivative work - personally I've always shared the VMware take on it that this was a loophol

Moreover it's not implausible (I'd wager it's actually likely) that HP and other websites still relying on FTP will be pressured to actually fix their sites and switch to something more secure once Chrome drops support.

Are you sure you’ve explored the whole thing? The crowded lawn is certainly one part of it but there are whole swaths up near 110th that are much quieter as well as large dense tree sections e.g. near the zoo.

I think some people put VB6 in this bucket, because VB.NET wasn't really the same thing (they are more different than e.g. Python 2 vs. 3, AIUI).

The default is that the box is unchecked - i.e. the Zoom client will, by default, automatically turn on your camera when you join a meeting. You can opt out of that behavior by checking this box, but that behavior is the default.
