Yeah sorry I regret posting the comment, was a bit snarky. I've been working 25 years now. Everything is different now. I dont understand a lot of where infrastructure is going, it seems every year more complicated and expensive with l

Ask the new hires if they care. They probably realize they need to learn AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes and Leetcode, anything else is secondary. The guys 5-10 years of experience are likely more interested.

I love travelling around Europe on a train but Western USA really isn't built for it, the geography nor the lifestyle.

I think the issue is we all need to pay for journalism via subscriptions rather than rely on ads that requires clickbait titles to attract views.

Yeah I actually had a Ubiquiti Edgerouter doing this but I was never confident enough it was set up properly, hence the other solution.

Anyone have a simple idiot proof way to make sure a hacked webserver can't hit your internal network? I have two routers (effectively a DMZ) but there must be a better way than two levels of NAT.

I think you need to go back to your text books. Treasuries aren't money. They are are super liquid and with repos you can very easily turn them into money but they aren't money as measured by m1, m2, mb etc. Treasury bills (<12

There is literally one definition of bankrupt, and hyper inflation has nothing to do with it. Plus, in general hyper inflation means people in debt get relief, its the lenders who lose the purchasing power of the money they lent.

The happiest people I've seeen are the ones with the biggest families. Lots of siblings, cousins, aunties & uncles and of course grand children. Perhaps this is the best measure for how successful a country is.

Or overnight. If you could post a simple problem to fix and its done by the next morning that would be awesome. Would play to strengths of Asia time zone too.

Its ridiculous really. I have a 6 year old OnePlus which works great, just the software isn't updated any more. Manufacturers should be supporting phones for 10 years.

Doesn't matter who's paying them as long as they're union. There are certain things you just can't yourself.

I've had this in the last few jobs. One reason for it is that to move desks in NYC requires a union employee to move the computer which ends up costing a few thousand dollars. With terminals and a cloud PC you avoid this.

Right, I really meant in a proper programming language you'd use high level libraries to do this work, rather than shelling sub processes. You wouldn't need sed/grep/cut.

I never had a professor who had time to geniunely help other than some quick advice or a bit of feedback. If you're really behind it takes hours of work to catch up (on top of studying).

It really depends a lot on how secure your job is, if you have a big mortgage etc. Shorting is really risky, in any bear market you get massive upswings that can really hurt.
