It is. I've not written anything in it other than a few simple tutorials, so I'm not an expert, but from what I've read you can drop to straight JS in your TS source code.

That is cool. While I think it's sad that Kodak and it's employees were displaced by digital imaging, I also think part of the role of technology is to bring a better life to all, through its use in medicine or by reducing the co

I'm not sure if you've looked into Fuji's digital camera offerings as of late, but their doing much better there IMO than Canon/Nikon. Fuji has been innovating in sensor tech with their X-Trans sensor and their X seri

I disagree. People can be cleared fully of a crime when justified. Murder is illegal, unless it's self defense. I'd argue that what Snowden did was in defense of his country.

These platforms are worth nothing to society per se. They are worth something to investors in the potential returns they might yeild once they find a way to turn the aggregate data and metadata into a more acurate advertising model.

It's only saving grace is that works alongside existing FM without much intrusion into the way FM already works.

I just wish instead of celebrating these days on arbitrary month/day combinations, that we'd instead use some physics or math based use of them. Pi day should be when we've gone half way around the Sun and Tau, New Years Day

Unlikely. The DACs in most of the available chipsets in phones are far superior to something you could put in a pair of headphones or as a bump in a cable - and would need batteries to run it.

Comparing the 3.5 mm audio jack to the floppy drive is ridiculous. The jack has become far, far, more ubiquitous than the floppy drive. Additionally, the things that use the jack are often of higher quality and not disposible like a flopp

It's interesting how you want to take those who worked hard, got a degree, bettered themselves, and who are using their skills to better society (programmers, doctors, lawyers), and reward them with higher taxes.

I believe the Lightning port itself is digital signal and power only. There may be cables that have a small lump in them somewhere that provides an inline DAC to output to analog audio. This would be an example of a propreitary adapter th

True, they don't care. They do care about price, and when/if digital interconnects become the norm, don't expect the cheap implementations to handle the loud pop on disconnect situation any better.

Maybe there is. I've seen references to the ability to encapsulate a compressed stream directly. That said, support for it varies widely. However, uncompressed 24-bit audio is not gonna happen.

This boggles my mind too. I've had a few friends that are audiophiles that love to use Bluetooth headpones and will argue about the quality of the DAC in the player. And people here talk about the 3.5mm jack being a hack or a kludge.

Fine, replace one analog connection with another - that will not likely be standard on all devices. Cue plethora of easy to lose adapters taking up more space in my backpack. It's just silly.

The quality of the cables you buy and how you treat them is an idependent issue from that of the 3.5mm jack. I've had more iPod and phone charger cables (read - digital cables akin to what a new headphone jack would use) die than I

I disagree entirely. I'm not an Apple fan boy, but I've actually run my own tests on iPods as early as the 3G iPod (the 30 GB hdd based one, not the phone) and the sound quality from the electronics was excellent. The MP3s are a
