I've read that ears are pretty unique. But I imagine that mass surveillance based on ear profiles would be difficult just because ears are small so it's harder to isolate high resolution pictures of people's ears. Also becaus

Always? If I'm standing 10 metres away, I don't think it would be too bad. Even at 1 metre away it would be fine. With images as large as the OP is talking about, at typical viewing distances pitch substantially larger than 1mm wo

In addition to the captain's glider experience, the first officer just happened to have served at the RCAF station where they eventually landed. So they had at least a couple of extra things working in the favour that day.

All of that probably has to be done in order for the AP-101 to be flight certified. As far as I can recall, they wrote their own operating system and didn't rely on any external libraries. Even when it was new, the AP-101 was part of a

Maybe OP just believes that writing PHP, Java, or C++ feels like walking on broken light bulbs. :) I personally don't mind working with those languages, as long as I'm not working on a horribly written legacy codebase.

Sometimes you'd like to have reverse thrust in-flight if you want to descend really, really quickly. Airliners don't have that feature anymore, but the C-17 and C-5 do. Actually, maybe some ex-Soviet airliners can still do it. DC-
