Idea seems good but it is just a landing page. Not much to comment on.

I am glad someone took the time to debunk the article in [2]. The original article, even with references, did not sit right with me. Partly because of the sensational rhetoric and partly because it contradicted some of what I personally kno

A single genome, true. But what if you wanted to compare 100,000 genomes of people with heart disease to find common genes for heart disease? Now you are at ~72 TB which I would consider big data. As far as I am aware, enough human genomes

I completely agree. I have always hated the phrase "big data". It is a meaningless marketing phrase. As the article points out, very few IT companies have single data sets which are in terabyte or larger scale. Although the total size of th

Right now the Bay Area has a very high demand for good software developers which means the pay and perks are better there than most places. Cost of living is very high, but you will make enough to easily pay rent. However if you are wanting

Postgres is primarily designed around data integrity. Therefore it does the "right" thing for certain data types. For example, it stores dates and times in ISO 8601 format and converts to UTC. The arbitrary-precision decimal type has a ridi

You have a bug. It returns null for a random number.

Pretty cool! I think a good addition would be adding the ability specify data type for random numbers. So if I want to test 64-bit integers, I can have it generate numbers in the 64-bit range that exceed the 32-bit range.

I guess it depends. The most important thing is knowing the basics. Usually someone with a CS degree knows them. I have found very few self-taught web/mobile developers who can answer questions about complex data structures, threading, etc.

Having just moved to CO after living in Silicon Valley for 3-4 years, here is my cost experience. Most things are about the same price as everywhere else (food, clothes, etc). However two things are not: taxes and housing. If you are single

Why don't we just change the JSON spec to include ISO 8601 date, time, timestamp, and comments?

Okay, but that does not answer my question. How would I protect my auth tokens in plain-text, client-side Javascript code without an auth server? Do you provide such an auth server? I only see end-user login which is pretty cool, but usuall

Their marketing and docs seem to suggest otherwise. This docs page has client-side Javascript: https://www.firebase.com/docs/web-quickstart.html

If a developer builds a Javascript web app without any servers, how do you know what to charge them for bandwidth? The developer cannot store auth tokens in the client code because anyone could see it. If someone steals the auth tokens, the
