I am curious, why are foreign tables necessary?

Yeah I agree with that. However Google usually does a good job of finding the "best" version of a particular question and making that the first or second result.

I personally like the "how to open file" questions. Even though I have been developing software for ~15 years, I often forget basic file I/O syntax when I need to switch languages which is rather common lately. I remember how

From the video, I noticed that the HTML tags were also scraped in the large article text. Is there some way to remove those automatically? Or perform further processing?

Any examples? I only know of successful CEOs doing this for two reasons: 1. Good PR because many people think "wow he/she isn't greedy". Though they don't realize that there is a financial benefit. See #2. 2. All in

I love that feature. One bar for the various menus and the other for the list of open windows. I often have several versions of the same application open while working and it is easier for me to find the right window on the open window bar

The bandwidth cost from AWS to the internet is the same for EC2 and S3. They aren't discriminating as far as I can see.

Within the same region, yes. Not in the same region, then whatever the inter-region bandwidth costs are.

I hope these AWS pricing changes are not an early April Fool's joke. The S3 pricing in particular will be cheaper than the current pricing for the > 5000 TB tier.

Most of AWS's major outages have been related to EBS. Although outages can happen to any hosting provider, and I am sure they have fixed the previous issues. So EBS should get more stable over time and it is already quite stable. The p

True. I think reducing network overhead, removing one SQL call (currently need SELECT + UPDATE), and simplifying application code is a good start and probably fast enough for most use cases.

I proposed supporting JSON Patch which may or may not be implemented, but it does provide a way forward. http://www.postgresql.org/message-id/CACu89FSYikxdUj+J01BoAv...

I really meant engineer when I said technical. Engineers are both technical and are required to think in practical rather than abstract terms. Is that an indicator of success for an executive in general? It depends on the job and the compan

Technical executives have an innate concept of what is and what isn't possible. This allows them to better evaluate proposals for new features, refactoring systems, etc. This is one reason why I believe Microsoft succeeded under Bill G

I think the OP meant maintaining a large code base not application performance. BTW did you mean to say "Node.js scales quite well for CPU intensive problems."? If so, that is very incorrect. I/O intensive yes, CPU intensive

Do you have a reference for the "official policy" statement? Any experienced, systems developer, regardless of language, would never think that was a good thing. In addition, it is not hard to handle the errors due to callbacks. T
