Just throwing code over the wall is such a poor imitation of open source. Develop in the open--reviews, patches, bugs, design discussions--everything should be visible. Let's not pretend that this is really what "open source" is about--it's

I also ported zxcvbn to python for those of you looking to integrate it into things that don't have javascript support (a native app or something--that was the original motivation for it). https://github.com/rpearl/python-zxcvbn/ I am a b

If there is a conflict then a conflicted copy file will be generated and then either the user or the app can use that to merge changes.

Which, since it explicitly breaks type safety (you can write coerce :: a -> b with it), is an appropriate name for that function.

As a Dropbox employee, both of these things have been super useful, especially being able to share sets of pictures without shuffling them around into shared folders. Glad they're shipping to everyone now :)

Why in the world would there be a root password at all? "No, Bob, if you lost the private key associated with your ssh credentials you can send me a gpg-signed email or wait until morning when you can verify your identity physically."

I have to comment on this line: > Some libraries implement an unsafe, but fast, JSON parse using “eval” for older browsers eval is not fast! In fact it is the opposite of fast. Most JIT optimizations go away in the face of eval()! Do no

There's a bunch of not-quite-correct information here... Let me try to summarize. Jaegermonkey is a JIT. It takes spidermonkey bytecode, and when functions grow hot, it compiles them to native code in a way quite similar to v8's full AST co

There are some photos, such as https://www.google.com/about/datacenters/gallery/images/_300... I wonder why they've mirrored the image (the left side is quite clearly the right side flipped--take a look at the machine identifier labels).

Haskell and SML both have sufficiently expressive type systems that I do not ever find myself writing correct code that fails to typecheck. If the code fails to typecheck, I have done something wrong. (If the code does typecheck, then I hav

"dynamic and functional" I don't understand what you've said here. The two terms are entirely orthogonal. There are functional langauges which are dynamically "typed", and there are functional languages which are statically typed. Lumping t

Keep in mind that v8's "points" scale is nonlinear, so it's not clear what "radically" actually means in terms of the time taken to run the test.
