Yeah, I'm not sure how widespread the knowledge is that floating point trades precision for magnitude. Its obvious if you know the implementation, but I'm not sure most folks do.

Excellent breakdown. The title seems misleading since we don't even know it's AI. I very much dislike when folks state speculation as fact. > Amazon created an AI agent to look at every account and, instead of flagging them for

It's not Constitution-free, but CBP does claim a lot of extra rights within that zone. It covers about two-thirds of the U.S. population. https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone

It's like when you're playing a video game and you accidentally press the wrong button and shoot a guy in the face instead of healing him. The idea that you could accidentally open a webpage instead of launching a program is a UX

Right, but when humans are writing the code, they have learned to focus on putting downward pressure on the complexity of the system to help mitigate this effect. I don't get the sense that agents have gotten there yet.

Debugging would suffer as well, I assume. There's this old adage that if you write the cleverest code you can, you won't be clever enough to debug it. There's nothing really stopping agents from writing the cleverest code the

This is a nice point that I haven't seen before. It's interesting to regress AI to the simplest form and see how we treat it as a test for the more complex cases.

I trend libertarian because I have a strong anti-authoritarian streak. I used to think of myself as closer to the Republicans, but these days I mostly only agree with the Democrats. Weird times.

These numbers aren't credible. Total credit card fraud globally is projected to reach $43 billion in 2026. You're arguing that fraud on Android alone is equivalent to that. Doesn't smell right.

That's primarily a function of the time for adoption, though, not the utility of the technology. In 20 years, people would not be able to so easily say that they could turn off AI with no impact.

That article's premise is that the Android security model is something that I want. It really isn't. The F-Droid model of having multiple repositories in one app is absolutely perfect because it gives me control (rather than the o

My personal take is that LLMs are so transformative that they are likely not going to qualify under derivative works and therefore GPL wouldn't hold sway. There's already some evidence that courts will consider training on copyrig

The dependencies weren't vendored, meaning their behavior can change at any time if a malicious actor gains control of that third-party repo. This is bad for security.

The statistic isn't related to thrown weapons. It's how quickly you can close the space between you and your adversary, as well as how much bearing drift you can create as you do so.
