I guess my lament is with wish that ultimately it would never be rational to perform a short GM draw -- i.e. there would be some short-term incentive they lose out on, and they would have long term reputation damage e.g. who wants to suppor

When one GM does it, yes, amusing. But when both repeat to perform a Grandmaster draw they're kind of destroying the value to spectators, as in any other sport the fans would revolt if both teams were so willing to not put up a struggl

I enjoyed the paper but one thing they didn't seem to consider was the human-difficulty of the move e.g. sometimes long horizontal moves are harder to see (sorry, no reference, just anecdotal based on experience), so one could see late

I probably enjoyed 'Mastering the game of Go with deep neural networks and tree search' the most and especially appreciated the 'Methods' section where they go into a good amount of detail about their implementation. ht

Yeah, that game was kind of different from the others - in the other games the feeling I got was that over time AphaGo's pieces got increasingly effective while Stockfish's pieces would get bottled up and lose their mobility.
