Learn by doing, I used iFixit to replace my Pixel 3 screen/body, Pixel 6a screen, and a bunch of other mac fixes. You just get better from doing it.

OnlineOrNot's fallen back to AWS for monitoring, so you should still be getting alerts. The dashboard's API server runs on Cloudflare and is currently blocking all logins, will fix.

For the "this is crazy expensive" crowd: this competes with the Pakon F135 - an ancient lab scanner that involves booting up Windows XP, finding old drivers on a CD, etc This sounds excellent to me, personally.

From what I can tell, Downdetector just tracks traffic to their pages without actually checking if the site is down. The other day during the AWS outage they "reported" OVH down too.
