Ok, got it. So this implies installing equipment in a number of PoPs presumably based on some study of where your core customers are? And I guess this isn't for all application logic, just cache stuff, quick and easy interaction gains,

I'm realising, with my limited understanding of electronics, that the flywheel acts in these cases as a capacitor, albeit a frickin' huge mechanical one.

I have yet to read a definition of 'edge' that makes sense to me, sysadmin/infrastructure/coder of ~30 years in the industry. Anyone?

These were huge. In fact iirc the power that came into the building spun them, and the DC ran off the resultant generated electricity. So the risk at cutover is minimal, there is in fact no loss of electricity unless the wheel drops below t

I have, and least power. I worked in a DC with 4 very large diesel generators, each backed up by a multi-ton flywheel that managed the transition between a power cut and the generators taking over. Area wide power cut, winter afternoon so i

This has always been a problem for me and has led to disregarding many otherwise ok colourschemes.

Nope, asking money for a colourscheme is ridiculous.

Thanks, that makes sense. So all this implies the camera is transmitting information elsewhere and not storing it locally.

I'm confused, what RF does a camera typically emit, and why?

I'm still baffled as to how this is allowed anywhere near public roads. The only reason I can think of is that the US values trade above risk of killing people.

In a parallel universe OS/2 won over Windows, and we're living in a very different world.

Why is the device connected to the Internet? And why does it have a camera?

I handed a project over to a new developer once before leaving the company. I returned about 18 months later, and he'd stripped out the one Easter egg I'd put in. No sense of humor that chap. Good coder though.

Like all good writing, this article is not about the subject in the title. This is the pertinent line : > They are intellectually secure in the center of a vast mob; their wisdom was received, not crafted.

I love that development continues on Haiku, great work all. I was a big fan of BeOS back in the day (I still have a BeOS shirt :-)). A great user experience on top of some fantastic technical ideas.

I recently changed from Alacritty to WezTerm due to bugs in the former and I don't have any complaints so far. It is part of my daily professional workflow, works well with Tmux, under WSL. Great piece of software.
