Just by success numbers he can't be terrible. Most of his companies are doing pretty well for themselves.

The big problem is that a person making a mistake can be taught to not make that mistake again. That's also not foolproof but at least it works a lot of the times. AI are unteachable, if you have given them a good prompt and they do so

Engineering is most certainly about being better or worse. A key aspect of being an engineer is that you can make conscious trade offs that include time, cost and feasability among others. It's not always a good choice the make the min

I use DP alt mode and also the HDMI port to drive two screens. I use hyprland and runs fine after configuration. My battery certainly last a few hours. I use it as any other laptop I had before and use it daily on trains. So I cannot at all

It's essentially the same. Afaik there is no feature the M1 has on asahi that is still missing on M2.

That's simply not true. I have been daily driving asahi for 2.5 years or so now on an M2 Max macbook. In it's been one of the most reliable and smooth experiences I have had ever using linux. DP alt made is working fine for me. I&

Oh Anthropic has shown their ugliness in more ways than one I agree. You have to have to done some pretty heinous shit for openAI to look good in comparison.

Right, so it seems that distilling an AI model is legal too then. At least it is somewhat similar.

I simply dislike AOP because it makes code much harder to follow. You suddenly have aspects which you need to be aware of at all times, worse aspects can interfere with each other in non-obvious ways. It breaks one of the core aspects of co

That's awesome! I have been playing with the idea of doing a Tales of Symphonia decomp. More than 10 years ago I started the high-res texture pack, which the community has now carried further than I ever did. But it would be totally aw

That makes no sense, either people don't know about the previous work and thus it has clear value. Or they do and they can easily skip it. Beside for a lot of work it be great if you could just literally copy and paste fragments if you

Why is an audit trail interesting? I would expect its basically useless as anything that can be accessed can be copied. So it doesn't even give info of user x viewed y at some time.

Doesn't git crypt solve this? You can have encrypted blobs in a repo that will be auto decrypted if you have a working key.

And theranos did that too? Theranos, a medical company, was an affordable luxury (??) brand that makes sleek hardware? In fact the hardware was not sleek at all, since it didn't function.

This doesn't exactly make it clearer. I can think of two things it can imply. Neither make a lick of sense: - Theranos was at the forefront of medical technology - Apple is a fraudulent company to the core

I'm not sure what this comment is trying to say. Theranos was a company build from the ground up on fraud. Apple, for all its faults, is provably at the forefront of technology used in personal computing devices.

That's obviously true. On the other hand its also true this is more likely to work because it is rust compared to python or js for example. And that's not only because of memory safety. It's because static typing gives an aut

This is perhaps the least believable comment I have seen on HN, ever. It would be more believable for someone using C to say "In about 22 years of writing C code. I have never ran into a memory bug".

You're confusing "contains information" with "has produced a result." A proof being latent in an LLM is no more significant than a proof being latent in a book, a theorem prover, or the axioms themselves. Einstein&#

Once you now something is correct, with a proof. It is MUCH easier to understand why it is correct. Than to start from a slate that you don't even know whether something is correct or not. In that sense AI that can just solve high leve

Too bad linux x86 on arm story is still terrible. Fex is great in a sense but getting it run is a herculean feat, with pagesize mismatched requiring a VM.

Why do you feel the need to attack the person character by stating he is probably young and/or has not dealt with disability in his social circle? This is needlessly aggravating and actually pissed me of when reading it.
