I agree there's a lot of waste but with the population expected to go up by 3-4 billion in the next decade that urban sprawl is not going to stop, and we're going to need 2x more land for food, especially as we're overfishing

I read some encouraging recent reports that a Sahara PV project would not only generate about 5 times the energy requirements of civilization, it would also increase rainfall in the Sahara and probably lead to greening. Meanwhile offshore w

Reduced emissions are not enough. Even if we got to zero emissions worldwide in the next 20 years (impossible), the excess carbon in the atmosphere already needs to be dealt with. There are greenhouses gases coming from the permafrost. The

The only country actively ignoring this is the US, as the only (only!) country in the world not signed up to the Paris climate accords. However, that's not to say the citizens, industries and local governments are aligned with this ins

I think about this every day. It's terrifying. Especially in that it will get hotter going forward. We can only hope that visualisations like this and increasing heatwaves and wildfires will stir world governments into faster, more dra

I don't know what to tell you. I love my kids, and i would absolutely make the same decision over again, but a lot of what you said rings true. Kids are a burden. Of course they are. They're not self sufficient. You literally have

I've definitely felt like I'm in the stages of grief. This feels accurate. We're collectively facing our own mortality, in the way that everyone who lives long enough must eventually. And just like that personal mortality, th

This is how I cope. 1. Do what you can. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Vote green with your wallet and your ballot card. Eat less meat. Drive less. Work remote. Buy second hand. Grow your own veg. Buy carbon offsets. Plant trees. 2. Accept that th

Is carbon offset by afforestation effective though? I had read that we can't counter the emissions by planting trees alone. I'm definitely interested in doing this and covering more than double of my footprint
