That's not really reconcilable with the guy using the 6 train stop at 23rd and Park.

Early reports said Google's planning on releasing these later this year ( http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/23/technology/google-glasses-... ); as far as I've seen, nothing's changed on that front. No, they're not showing you actual prototype

I don't think kmfrk is saying that the warnings are unjustified, more that they're just not getting through due to oversaturation. People hear about privacy issues all the time, but rarely see or experience actual negative repercussions, so

LLCs act as pass-throughs, distributing profits (and thus taxes) in proportion to ownership stakes. As a presumably sole owner of an LLC, he'd have to file a Schedule K-1 with the company tax return, which essentially moves the profits of t

Not really. The press reporting a $15 billion valuation was bullshit; it assumed that the only thing Microsoft was getting was the stake. In reality, it got a lot more, including the advertisement contract.

This article's outlook is way too simplistic; Chinese won't be the only influence on English's future. China still accounts for only a somewhat small fraction of English speakers, so other languages and cultures will have as much, if not mo

I certainly agree that computer programming doesn't matter much, but what about hacking in the more general sense? I'm sure there are tons of problems in Africa where a simple solution could make a big difference (the recent thing with whee

He doesn't mean the tag is optional, he means he likes how it gives you a choice between just going to the raw pdf and using scribd, so it's a tag making the use of scribd optional.

His first comment is now -19 and his other two were -3 before I came in here. Why all the pile-on downvoting for no real reason, people? Are those comments really worth -19?

No, Cuban is arguing that Hulu is somehow "beating" Youtube. Even if it is more profitable, it's more profitable in the same way that Apple is more profitable than Adobe.

Indeed. This world record stunt got quite a few media mentions, and while I'm sure they would have gotten a lot without it because of the release, this likely generated even more publicity.

The chances of it ever getting such a deal were slim; the media companies already hated them for stealing their content before, and would not have wanted to reward that with a deal to do it legally (some did, yes, but it was unlikely that m

This is a bit of a stretch; they don't even really compete with each other all that much. Hulu only has TV shows; it doesn't have huge volumes of user-generated content. People don't use Hulu to the exclusion of Youtube or vice versa.

Honestly, this post is exactly why we need downvotes (and I'm surprised it's been upvoted so much). I agree that the threadstarter is wrong, but explaining your viewpoint and why you think he's wrong contributes far more to the discussion t

The problem is that downvoted comments are less prominent- they're all the way at the bottom of the page (and greyed out). Thus if people start downvoting things they just disagree with, things that contribute to discussions won't actually

CACert isn't really unrecognized, it's just that they haven't worked out a deal with Firefox. There's a 5 year old bug about this, and they're just waiting for the company to do something before they add them.

Not exactly. Creating a fork is much different from writing one's own Firefox- it's just copying code and changing the default browser bit, not writing an entire web browser that's exactly the same.

Yes it does. You'd be shocked at how fast I've seen some people complain that IE was easier when they get the import favorites dialog during FF installation. They don't even bother to read it and see if it's easy, they just see it requires

I don't see that as true- even tech savvy people seem to do it. I think it might have something to do with email sometimes being seen as a more formal type of online communication, as opposed to instant messaging, or even perhaps less forma
