Agreed, we actually would love to hire more females at my last job, but there are just not enough qualified women in tech. Most candidates are white young guys. I don't think it's industry's fault that women choose easier majors and not Com

Most people are not involved in production anymore, most of it is automated, and levels of automation will only increase.

That's not true. WebGL can get you to pretty much any level of animation you would need, it's just much harder to code for than CSS.

Even cheap modern SSDs can handle 400-500 MB/sec reads. You can consume 500 MB chunks of video into RAM and eliminate I/O bottleneck completely. Video encoding is CPU-bound, not I/O bound.

It's not clear what the instruction set is. Is there any software that can run on it (and not on ARM A9 like in their demos)? It's also not clear whether it's a SIMD solution. If that's the case, they are basically reinventing GPUs.

Raspbery Pi is 700 MHz, single core, 256MB RAM. This is 1.7 GHz, quad core, 2048MB RAM. If anything, it's more efficient per watt than RPi (and per dollar).

What ARM needs to do is start a multi-core revolution. Give me 64 cores, 128 cores, 1024 cores. That shit would be so useful for video encoding.

I think it's the opposite. Many good short .com and .net names are taken by squatters and/or users who don't do anything with them. This will give a good opportunity to the rest of us.

You're basically arguing against the visualization of information. Just think of how dumb that is. You might as well argue to publish all government data in Klingon, it will make the life of dumb criminals even harder.

How many people can lift 30kg 2 meters up? How about doing it continuously? You're also forgetting that it require human energy to power it, which requires food, which is usually more expensive than batteries or gasoline or kerosine.
