I don't see myself using this. It's such a bizarre collection of feeds, it doesn't make any sense to me.

Then you don't have a startup. All you have is some website. Figure out how to make money from it, or don't waste your time. If it breaks even, you can just keep it running, but from my experience, sites require maintenance, and, depending

You're basically asking - how do I make $$$? Gaining customers/users is the cornerstone of any commercial website, and there's no magic pill. Your options are usual 1) Advertising (I would try mechanics/docs/vets forums) 2) Sales (direct ca

Horrible deal. There's a chance that you will work for 1/3 of your regular salary for 6 months, and there's NO UPSIDE. Let's say they let you go after 6 months, or tell you "there's no money". If your normal rate is 100K, you will be workin

57c per click, that's ridiculously high. Adwords would probably cost you 5-10c/click for such a narrow niche.

That advice will only affect a tiny minority of tech people. Most users rely on their browser, and have no idea what javascript even is.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but hey, if you can pull it off, it might be successful. Just think of the number of comments up/down voted every millisecond, and that's just one the dimensions. The scale of that matrix would be enormou

You can calculate the "weight" of the movie for a given user once. The number of movies is very low, compared to the number of stories on reddit. Whatever that guy is proposing is an insanely complex dynamic system. I'm not saying it's not

Yet the OP mentions the <cfquery> tag, which is exactly the problem. It's mixing of the presentation (view) with a DB call (something that should be in a model and routed through a controller).

$20K is NOT a lot of money. Consider that hiring anybody will cost you at least $40K/year. Hiring a senior level programmer will cost you $130-180K/year (counting his salary, benefits, taxes, accounting, work place).

Tried it. It just saves it with worse compression, resulting in more artifacts. Not impressed. All these posts "whoa I compressed my 1MB image to 400KB" are laughable. It's not like it's lossless.

How do people start up with less than $20K? That's barely enough to cover basic icorporation + lawyer + equipment + website graphic design. If you need to hire somebody professional (like sales guys), what do you do?

So both use SVG, you just use the SVG syntax. How is that an advantage? The whole point of libraries like that is not to abstract the presentation layer. Raphaël can be switched to WebGL, for instance, and you won't even need to rewrite any
