I remember reading some sci-fi about people wearing masked that messed with the shape of their face enough so facial recognition didn't work (to avoid getting killed). Even now we could probably do this with adversarial sunglasses or m

You can make it a bit more fun! Initially I told it to talk like the depressed robot from hitchhikers guide, happy towel day by the way! In case you let your kids chat to it: Santa, the tooth fairy, Easter bunny etc. are real. And to make m

I think the problem here is that people are assuming it is just a different type of what we have now, instead of something completely different. So we have a new tech like Blockchain, it takes a few years and gets really "big". We

The god was obsessed with making different beetles. But then he was talking about the "pinnical" of life and evolution. Ponder thought he meant humans, capable of mastering their world. Then he looked down and saw the leg twitch..

The only problem is, if you use xfce for any length of time it is horrible going back to any other DM. Don't even attempt to use a modern windows install, you end up feeling that it is actually broken!

Rabbit mq is great. I found it particularly useful when some parts of a program are inherently slower than other parts. It offers a very robust and tested queuing system, and is pretty tiny to run. It lets you keep things very simple.

That was a book as far as I know. Daniel Suarez's critical mass. If it was done in real life too I'm actually at the point where I think that guy is a prophet ;)

I'm not sure, first off the precision doesn't have an ethernet port at all! Secondly, I'm not sure if a crossover cable setup will autoconfigure the network, as the poster above says, it has been since the 90s when I bothered

Yes, both were modern enough laptops. Although the ideapad didn't advertise thunderbolt in the lspci, connecting that and the dell precision "just worked" (tm). It's very useful for sending large data using minimal equip

I recently had to set up a new laptop (xubuntu). Previously I cloned but I this time I wanted to refresh some of the configs. Using a usb-c cable to transfer at 10gb/s is so useful (as my only other option was WiFi). When you plug the

What a story, I never knew about this. Again and again these public families with public images doing the most toxic things behind closed doors. Thanks for sharing this.

All I'm saying is "assaulted multiple people" is the same as "hacked rockstar with a fire stick". And it sounds like lashing out. Aaaand, sympathy isn't required. Empathy goes much further.

A quick glance at "embedding" reminds me a lot of some work I was doing on quantum computing. I wonder if there is some crossover potential there, in terms of calculations across vector arrays
