How could be people convinced about importance of this if it doesn't or won't impact them enough? Yes, "think about our children" is good, but in the end people are still selfish and will think that it's not their p

Integrity checks during startup will slow down in time. Also, does it mean you have to restart the app often? Sounds bad to me. Complex constraints sounds like an app/domain responsibility, much easier to test, version, troubleshoot, e

Question for PG happy users. How do you manage failover and replication? At my previous job this was done by a consultant. Is this doable on a self hosted setup? Thank you in advance.

Sorry for noob question, but why would one use OpenBSD instead of FreeBSD? I like latter, but also hear good things about former, although there are some limitations (e.g. no ZFS). Thank you in advance.

I did not say 100% secure. Joining efforts and resources could be a better approach than leaving it to each country to secure their own database.

On the other hand, this could mean a joint effort to make it more secure, since stakes would be higher.

It gives the impression that something new has been discovered. So in this case is a clickbait, you have to click and find out something that is known, maybe not well known but I wouldn't say a secret. I personally knew about Orcas att

Is the RediSearch's aggregation comparable with ES's? Speed has lower priority when there are missing features. PS: Crashes are never good though...

Not devs, but junior devs in particular. Jumping 10 times a year may be for different reasons for experienced people, although some may see it as a red flag. There is a huge difference between devs that do development for the money and devs

Of course not, they should be comfortable to be able to pursue this, but I don't think it's a recipe for becoming great developers. They may become great managers, CEOs, etc.. but not craftsmen. Would you rely on someone that star

No, great developers are the result of ones hard work, long nights, dedication and passion, hence hiring part. Mentoring is Uni's job, since you pay them money.

I don't want to sound harsh, but junior devs that think about living standards while being junior will remain junior or average at best.

Could be. You could have close to complete coverage, but slow integration tests. Not a big problem, CI can run those all the time. The problem is the feedback cycle. The slower the tests, the slower the feedback is. So, with each change I h

Thank you for your answer, I will try to come up with some analogy as well (so that I don't use yours). No, I am not TDD nut, which is the opposite of the TDD, from what I understand "write enough code" for the test to pass.

Thanks, it makes sense. I personally try to apply some of it (TDD) at a smaller scale (e.g. 1 service class) and I see the benefits. I tend to over engineer so following some rules would help me, but others may write tests after whole day o

We have a good coverage, but we don't have that feeling that after running all tests we can release. Currently each dev decides how much tests to write, but usually after the fact to make sure whatever he wrote behaves as expected, at

I think at a high level only. Try and see how it goes (write some code, execute it and see the results) could be improved.

My main goal is to improve our development process. I understand everyone is different and has their own ways, but if somebody doesn't use a tool at its full potential then in the end company/team loses, because instead of improvi
