There are a couple problems with your post coming from a 50+ year old. * Statistics and probability. * PHD,blog posts, > 2 PL and github in the wild = respectable technical resume. * Badass is as badass does. I work with CS PHDs who are

Both parents were teachers and spoke strongly against the profession when they retired 15 years ago. My exit/retirement strategy from this IT circus was always teaching but I guess I could revisit that for midnight shift as a DC tech s

If you have a single core/threaded computer you can only schedule one task at a time and concurrency is an illusion. What this functional language does is mask the complexity involved in SMP systems where state and data are subject to

This sounds like classic devops/cloud snake oil. I wonder what industry pays your bills? * The most businesses/always on reasoning appeals to executive decision makers and rolls down hill to the technical people who are best educa

Using recipes, pre-built images, automation, and mostly opaque system controllers that abstract away all the underlying detail. That isn't a reliable/secure system and only salesmen and those who have a stake in that model push

This is generational decay. It happens on schedule. We always forget those who come before us when we can. Now it is extremely easy to do.

So one is user configurable and understandable (leaves much to the user) and the other is a black box that performs magic? One takes some time to understand and make work while the other just does the right thing 85% of the time?
