Embperl runs on the server. I’ll note that running Perl in browsers has long been possible, if the browser is MSIE on Win32 with Perl installed. I deployed a client-side Perl “solution” at my university in the 90s.

Oh yes. WAY faster. All that grinding that windows goes through when it starts? Doesn’t happen in a VM because the blocks are cached already in memory by the host OS.

More importantly, how many _American_ cars will be put on the road by Uber and Lyft? I think I've taken my share of Uber rides and I can't recall any that were in a domestic car. The drivers are obviously very sensitive to the eco

The only sensible way to update Windows is in a virtual machine hosted by another operating system, so the block caches don't get dropped by the reboots. When operated in this manner you an actually blow through a huge backlog of updat

It would seem to be a mistake to generalize across the entire nation, and basing your analysis on a denominator of school districts will be weirdly biased; better would be on a student-weighted basis. Locally, i can tell you that despite th

You should be able to route 10gbps with a whitebox PC containing a recent intel Core CPU (say, 5th gen or later) and a decent NIC such as Intel X540 or similar.

UTP is fine for 10gig, and in fact it has much longer reach, 55m-100m depending on cable quality, compared to twinaxial which is only defined by the standards to 15m. Twinax is also bulkier and costs more. Coax isn't defined for 10g,

And it's just demeaning. Any sensible urban transportation system needs to be a pyramid based on most trips being taken on foot. Anything that prioritizes cars over pedestrians in a city is a mistake. Yes, it's a mistake that 99.
