OP - do yourself a favor and read this short book (or just the first few chapters applicable to you). It's the best, most practical book on software engineering management that I've seen, and I'm only half-way through it.

Nah, the standard software engineering interviews don't represent the day-to-day reality of a software engineer. That's why they're so frustrating and impractical. So maybe you can build some deep learning bot that can pass a

The sad reality is that technical interviews in the majority of cases do not represent the day-to-day aspects of the job you're interviewing for. The heavy emphasis on algo questions were popularized by Google as a way to filter throug

Are you providing friends-and-family support? If they are stubborn about moving on, you should be stubborn about continuing to support them. I think you can make a very reasonable argument there. None of the answers here actually address yo

Even though my experience is from a few years back, I absolutely cannot recommend Drupal for complex, custom applications. See my write-up here: https://github.com/rshekhtm/VentureTap/blob/master/README.m

I similarly have mentioned having a family in the past during interviews. If interviewers dislike the work/life balance considerations that come with kids, I'd much rather find out about it in that interview than on the job.

Sure, but there are instances when that's not the case, e.g. early exercise implemented by company after the fact, or holding off buying until you're reasonably sure that the shares won't tank next month.
