10 minutes? Wow! It's probably due to the initial gradle build. On my laptop, after a new "git clone", the whole build takes 18s for me. If I use the prebuilt server ( https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy#

Actually, it won't work with the current version because of an adb bug ("adb reverse" does not work over "adb connect"): https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/37066218 The solution would be to

It has been devoloped for a specific use case (it is included in a B2B application where the user may need to display and control devices connected on USB). But you might use it for other reasons, like typing text messages from your compute

Fair enough. I had nothing interesting to say about the new GDB release, but the checksum used surprised me. Hence the question.

Cool, but why are the release checksums in MD5?

The purpose was to show that something lifetime-bound to a part of a struct becomes lifetime-bound to the whole struct when returned from a function. Using mutable references is the minimal way to get this.

Yes, you're right, this particular (artificial) example could be rewritten easily so that it compiles. But the point was to show that a compiling program may not compile anymore after factoring some code into a private method.

Since it is intended to be controlled from the computer only, there is fonctionally little benefit to install the client from another channel ("./gnirehtet rt" installs it if necessary).

(gnirehtet author here) I guess that they use the same principles (though I can't check easily since it's proprietary). In that case, the main difference is that gnirehtet is free and open source software.
