What is the threat model you're worried about? If an attacker can write data to your disk or authenticate to your cluster, aren't you already screwed?

iirc there was a proposal to have Zig used `funcptr.()` syntax (with a dot) for indirect calls, but it was rejected.

I can buy that dereferencing null is a special case, but why is 0x2 special? Is 0x20 also special? What about 0x20000? Are the invalid non-null pointer values listed in a reference somewhere? If 0x2 is an invalid pointer, what do I do if my

Even then I still think it's clearer to put a `let` in the outer scope instead of putting a `var` in one of the inner scopes.

Edge cases like this will just get more common as unicode keeps getting more complex. There was a fun slide in this talk[1] that suggests unicode might be turing complete due to its case folding rules. I miss when Unicode was just a simple

Right, it's just a binary. And if I'm installing an app, say Audacity, I would never go to GitHub and download the raw binary, because then I'd have to write the desktop file by hand, and also the app would never get updated

I wanted to like AppImage, but it just didn't seem integrated well enough. Flatpak gives you: - Installation (no manually moving files from ~/Downloads) - Launcher integration (no writing .desktop files by hand) - Auto updating As

The point of that section was that those commands work the same everywhere. You can type both cd and Set-Location on both Linux and Windows and it will work.

Seems unlikely. The paper is about performing certain computations in the analog domain, trading precision for power efficiency. Hashing requires lossless computation.

I would at least get someone to write a letter. That much isn't expensive and there's always a chance they'll give in at the first sign of legal trouble. If that doesn't work though, and the amount isn't worth a leg

If I understand you, if the URI database outlives the URI itself, the URIs in the database would still be useless, right? If somebody buys uber.com, it does not matter if we preserve "uber.com/xmas-sale", since the uber.com d

We're talking about URL shorteners here. If you have a 20 character URL, which points at a blockchain, which points at a 50 character URL - just store the original 50 character URL and skip the blockchain. The only real use case for UR
