I took a class for AWS certification. Even though I never ended up taking the test, it has been extremely helpful throughout my career.

What a great idea! Movie theaters often have arcades, but I wonder if setting up a more permanent multiplayer game in theatre would be worthwhile?

I agree SUVs are wasteful in general, but EVs are actually pretty heavy too!

There has to be a better way to tax road usage. I pay extra for my EV as well, but I suppose the state’s argument is that the odometer reading could include mileage in other states. But that would still benefit your home state… so I don’t k

He's absolutely correct about the software needing to improve. It is difficult to set up meetings or group games all the time. It's too bad, because playing with friends is the best way to keep people engaged in VR. There just isn

Bevy is a full-blown game engine, which is an awesome idea for visualizing rust programs. Maybe it would be good for generating advent of code diagrams next year... (Who am I kidding, I barely get to day 12 most years!)

Not to totally discount embezzlement, but I think people underestimate just how poor these countries were after world war 2.

I've voted R in almost every election up until 2016. Things have changed quite a bit the last 8 years. Edit to add: I also interviewed to work at Tesla back a few years ago (before all the Twitter stuff). I thought Elon seemed pretty h

Eh only one of those examples includes the CEO literally retweeting nazi-adjacent stuff so it's a bit easier for me to hold tight on Tesla. Even my wife who is not a big tech follower will never consider a Tesla now.

I loved working with org mode - but I would occasionally hit some accidental key sequence which would totally blow up my entire document (I am not an eMacs expert so it was probably some vim mode problem)! I also probably tried to over orga

I'm not sure I buy this. I love using AI to help with coding and other questions, but often times I feel like AI is too agreeable to be an effective writing partner.

I had that exact 300 in 1 kit, with the instructions written by the great Forrest Mims. I remember going into RadioShack to order spare resistors and LEDs. What a great flashback!

I don't mind having a free server from them! I ignored a few sales emails but otherwise it's been drama-free. If you're looking for a place to experiment I don't see any better deal.

Oracle cloud has a great always free tier. You can get a 4 core 24 GB ARM server which is awesome. Of course, it is obvious ARM so while support for that is generally pretty good there may be some quirks.

Honestly the best thing you can do is get alternative offers - that is what talks. In my mind it's easier getting a raise in a lower cost location. If the budget for a role is $200k for SF and $150k for Corntown Iowa, I already have $5
