Having started working remotely just before the pandemic hit (good timing I suppose), I was curious how the daily schedule would be different. I am sure that being at a remote-experienced company is better than companies starting it for th

The datasaurus is an interesting concept, but I think the biggest issue with most of our society is basic mathmatical fluency. This idea of "visualizing your data" or "sanity checking" can be expanded to a lot of situat

That robot may be more valuable in a company that makes custom items like toys or signage. For car manufacturing, they are making hundreds of thousands of cars a year of the same exact shape, so a few hours if setup isn't to bad!

Thank you for putting what I have always thought into a clear paragraph! Back when I was working on a consumer robotics system that issue (what can we expect a random consumer to do to their home/yard to simplify the robot's job)

I agree with the author about how the risks are more obvious to higher ups than benefits and that is why rules generally stay the same. However, one thing that I learned as a new parent is how important it is to have consistency! I think a

That is my biggest concern as well. Plus the reality that if both parents come down with serious symptoms the kids likely have it, so it would not be ideal to send the kids to other family members to watch long term

Yeah this is definitely not surprising to the least! Even if I was laid off I am more worried about my children having long term health effects (or worse) than missing a few bills, and that is before considering how flexible lenders are cla

Back in first grade in the early 90s we had a computer lab class where the teacher taped a handkerchief over the keyboard and forced us to learn touch typing. At the time it seemed ridiculous (and sweaty!) But looking back I am glad I lear

I don't mean to generalize that Big Tech has awful work life balance or other problems (I am sure it is mostly the opposite!), but rather there are lot of things smaller companies can and should offer to be more appealing.

This works well if the laptop is front and center, but I actually have my laptop in a stand which holds it vertically to save desk space. I suppose the laptop could sit in my stand at 90 degrees but that might look a little strange! There

I believe this can work but please be careful doing this! Tool batteries are capable of supplying very high peak current and could cause a small fire. Lithium ion battery fires are not trivial, water alone may not be enough to stop it.
