Cockpit voice recorders are frequently overwritten because they are limited to only 2 hours in the US. Pilots' unions have pushed back on increasing this, stating they have privacy concerns.

If the man is taken at his word, his only error was buying from a seller on Amazon.ca. What credit card he used there didn't matter at all.

I'm going to have to try that out, my whole apartment is mostly Google Home-based. That said, we are building a Home Assistant integration at Tidbyt as well.

I don't feel knowledgeable enough about the expected process to comment on that. Two points of speculation though: 1. It looks like the commission believes Starlink is trending away from the targets rather than toward them, and that ca

The ESP32 can certainly do any of those things, but where it starts to become a problem is when you want to do all of those things. You start to run into limitations on application size, IRAM, GPIO's, etc. I've shipped ESP32-bas

That's fair and we've put some work into mitigating that risk. Our core runtime is open source, as are most of the apps for the Tidbyt. We've also released hardware spec that folks have used to start writing their own open fi

We don't have anything yet on the local-only front, but that's an interesting use case. Most of the requests I've heard about local communication so far are about having the Tidbyt reach out to local smart home devices, senso

Just tried it on our site ( https://tidbyt.com ). The text it produced was accurate and even flattering [1], but it kinda seems to just be a paraphrase of our home page, with some phrases just straight-up lifted. Would be curious

We actually only have 4 FTE's today and our business is both sustainable and growing. Our scale is also a couple orders of magnitude larger than the numbers from the article, and we have much better control over our BOM. Hardware is a

I remember IronRuby. It was a great demonstration and I think you inspired a lot of folks who came after. Maybe it didn't accomplish your original goal, but props for what you did accomplish. Quite impressive.

We're working on an example open source firmware. In reality though, it's not something the majority of our customers are asking for so with a 3-person team it hasn't been at the top of the list.

I feel similarly, that's why I use a smart home hub with local control (Hubitat). With Tidbyt our default pipeline uses our cloud, but the hardware is fully unlocked for you to flash your own firmware.

Great point on the context switching. It made me think about how I've setup my keyboard and use my editor. I always opt for a compact numpad-less keyboard with a trackpad right next to it. I like to have the trackpad as close to the ke
