There is just no way that 7% of parents in the US are using meth, or even 10% are using drugs (outside of alcohol, tobacco, weed). There just is no way that is accurate at all.

I'm sure it will be a non-zero amount but not sure how many parents there are that do meth that still have their kids. Probably not that many.

Presumably they would reuse the lobster shells and stuff them with something like crab or fish. Amazing!

I disagree, I think 1-2 are not really applicable, but SWE has some stuff other engineering fields don't have, either.

I've been misinformed that the planet can't support infinite people?

> But you need to process trillions and billions of firing of synapses. So? I would imagine this would be orders of magnitude greater in a neural net, no?

Yes that's exactly what people are saying here. It's not a criticism of the tool it's an example of what the tool is and how it functions.

Stop redefining things to support your argument. "The basic operations under arithmetic are addition and subtraction, division and multiplication"

I had someone on HN state stockfish is intelligent. If that is your definition of intelligence sure GPT is also intelligent. I do not think that's a common definition though!

Training the brain seems a lot easier than training an AI wrt the number of iterations. You don't need to process billions or trillions of tokens to understand English.

Do you like the people you work with? If so, I wouldn't change jobs for equal pay. That's a big risk you're taking: in my experience, it's more common to join a shit team than an OK team.

I love the "it was a mistake" "we're looking into it" "not sure what happened..." responses. Not even just in this context, but in the context of everything. Corporate America is absolutely about deception

We're talking about policy changes, not tourism. Largely this is in the context of how to fix the problem.

Yes, but it's a lot of work, and you're making replacement software for a commercial product for free.

What I mean is resources will be limited or models that are slightly worse will be released that will be much more cost effective but not quite as good. This is often the case with these types of technologies.

This isn't new it's just more obvious with this tech. Every sales team at nearly every company has been performing this dance for like hundreds of years.
