Assertions triggering in integration tests are different from unit tests. They don't involve writing mocks. They are generally closer to the code, especially with design by contract, so they are more likely to be fixed during a refacto

How is it clear that authoritarian state capitalism has won the fight? China is still less productive per Capita than the west. Most of it's advantage comes from it's population size, and demographics are bringing that to a halt.

Capitalism (or rather 'free' in the technical sense markets) solve a coordination problem. They don't solve the tragedy of the commons (unless you start paying people not to polute the commons, but that is very perverse). The

Cool, certainly makes sense to let the parser know ahead of time how many bytes to read. Not just for cleaner code, but for faster code aswell.

I think you're looking to much at the practice, and too little at the framing. The point is not that the structure of a quest works better. The point is that the framing of a quest works better. It inspires, it acknowledges there will

Alphago didn't have human feedback, but it did learn from humans before surpassing them. Specifically, it had a network to 'suggest good moves' that was trained on predicting moves from pro level human games. The entire point

The point of anarchists is that states are evil. If they want to do something about that, that means the state should be undermined to free it's subjects. That means attacking the state apparatus, which usually sees a very strong respo

All of those really reduce the risk. But I wouldn't trust them to be able to stop the CIA, KGB, or whatever the Chinese equivalent is.

Fingerprint sensors probably do some kind of fuzzy hash. That might be a nice basis for such a signature algorithm.

This is about automated systems using domain reputation to block certain downloads. Their systems are telling them that try.cloudflare.com is not a trustworthy domain, but it is so ubiquitous, that blocking them isn't feasible.

There is a solution for this at the OS level. It's domain names, validated through DNS. Those let the user decide if they trust the other side of a connection. Here cloudflare is showing they should nt be trusted, but because they are

To what extent is this already being done by other functional blanguages that have CoW mutability? This seems like a legal compiler optimization to make in most cases no?

How come the CoW method requires runtime reference counting? A lot of the same benefit (but not all) should be available based on static analysis right? Especially if the approach isn't really Copy on Write, but Copy only when someone

A mechanism that causes people to become more decisive (but much less contemplative) when short on food seems like it would be beneficial. It stops analysis paralysis, and makes someone try something rather than just accept their fate.

The additional copy used by push back can be observable (because the copy constructor is just a function, which is very much allowed to have side effects). That means the compiler isn't allowed to optimize out the copy.

A more reasonable claim would be that microsoft should have a way to allow virus-scanners to run without needing to be able to crash the kernel. That isn't an easy thing to do, but it should be possible.

Is over fitting different from 'too much optimization'? Optimization still needs a value that is optimized. Over fitting is the result of too much optimization for not quite the right value (i.e. training error when you want to re
