How will microphone access be monetized? For video, it is extortion. For microphone, it's much harder.

People watch porn on their laptops. Even just your orgasm face would be embarrassing for most people.

Empirically, most low level extortion does seem to be about leaking video. I would see a threat model based on 'criminal wants to extort me for money'. As more reasonable than 'creep wants to look through my computer for cree

WiFi and Bluetooth are usually provided by the same device, and it makes sense to want Bluetooth on a desktop. So you get WiFi essentially for free if you get Bluetooth.

Corporate WiFi based on a password and a device certificate is fine. For BYO devices, you have a separate WiFi network that does require a VPN to reach the corporate network.

You can use quantum computers to ask about the behavior of a random quantum computer. Google actually did this a while ago. And the result was better than a real computer could simulate.

I think a transistor, etching, and photolithography should all be explainable to these geniuses. If you get those, and then hand wave 'but now a lot more and precise' they will have about an average understanding of the process fo

This is just proving 'move spheres closer means more neutrons'. It's something you quickly show someone to explain what you are going to do. The people watching will then get most of the same ideas you are suggesting, and fig

Sure, there is a hierarchy. But the hierarchy is open. You still need to recurse down the entire call stack to figure out which exceptions might be raised.

Boeing could have specced some weird stuff on the dispenser, just to make it harder to get elsewhere. Things like impact resistance, yield strength in a fire, or counter-rotating threads to prevent it shaking out.

Exceptions in Python and C are the same. The idea with these is, either you know exactly what error to expect to handle and recover it, or you just treat it as a general error and retry, drop the result, propagate the error up, or log and a

There is web of trust, where you trust people that are trusted by your friends. There's issues with it, but it is an alternative model, and I could see it being made to work.

Good compression should still be cryptographically distinguishable from true randomness right? Sure the various measures of entropy should be high, but I always just assumed that compression wouldn't pass almost any cryptographic rando

Satelite still is centralized, needing a core to handle billing and routing. In time of war, it is quite easy to disable, and it remains fragile due to complexity, whilst being in someone else's control. HAM radio is robust, has no out

Twice the words. But more importantly, if a DNS record is a bad idea, your version is likely to get a more detailed response. It can be valuable to get a compact answer like filtering rules or we don't have a local DNS server.

Just in a statement is insulting if the other person has no idea why the statement is true. Why don't you just, in a question, is insulting if the suggestion is a good one. There is weird symmetry here.

Great bit of semantic insight. Just signifies an assumption of simplicity. Which is different from signifying it IS simple. Which makes it very nice for getting your assumptions checked.

I love the word just in a question, exactly because of what the article points out. Just means, my suggestion seems unreasonably simple to me. It means I am looking for, and expecting, a reason it doesn't work. The downside is if the s

The excuse for this is that performance is not considered part of the behavior of the program. So it doesn't matter to the question of whether your program is deterministic.

As for gambling. The point isn't gambling is evil, but that others think gambling is evil, so being associated with gambling is bad for business.
