I agree, this was just a sample code to show how usually imperative if / else / try / catch code is written. What is also possible is we catch the exception, log it and throw another one.

Interestingly, I have been harping on this for a while. Recently wrote a blog on how to separate business logic from infrastructure code and tie them together by composing functions together - https://rockyj-blogs.web.app/20

Ah Dolphin. Forced to use MacOS at work, most things do the job but man I miss Dolphin. I really wish I could run it on MacOS.

Ruby is still so good to read and hack things with. It is a shame that it is not so popular and you know the reasons why. I still wish with such a good DSL friendly structure, it should have become an IaC de-facto standard language or used

And yet, Klarna cannot figure out a way to make a decent profit, even with less than 40% of the employees (from the VC funded glory years) and dozens of acquisitions of actually profitable companies.

This article is just so politically charged and opinionated that it is hard to believe that it is coming on a "tech blog". Not to mention, a while back the very same company wanted its employees to have no political discussions at

Colima is related but separate, Colima runs a Linux VM seamlessly in MacOS so you can interact with Docker as if it was running on your host OS. Podman will also need a VM (coz there is no native Docker on MacOS).

I could not even (as of yesterday) get some boilerplate code out of AI. It very confidently spitted code which would not even compile (multiple times). Yes, it is better than parsing StackoverFlow pages when I have some specific task or err

For one I do not want to run my startup at the mercy of VC funded tech. Node.js is open source and maintained by a foundation, it will not "run out of funds" or be abandoned if there is no profitability in the near future.

As an Indian, I do not like this. Big banks like Hdfc also send emails with subject like - "Intimation to update account" or things like I had already sent an "intimation" email. Just makes no sense, you are a billion do

As I have learned from experience, ProtonDb means nothing. You can have slightly different hardware from SteamDeck and the game may not work for you. I am not talking theory, I am talking from real experience using latest hardware and multi

Nope, do not fall into the hype, i did this and a lot of games did not work. Driver issues, random crashes not to mention games from big studios straight up do not work and are not supported due to anti-cheat software or another layer of si

I would have rather seen "Closure" being dumped, ClojureScript is supposed to run on the web (or Node.js) so why is there a need for Java 21 and an ancient library in 2025. In fact, Closure / Java / Maven keeps me away f

All this just confirms for me the fact that how important the web is, thankfully it is still open / neutral and a good mobile web app is important for smaller devs. Thankfully the web has always been neutral, which has allowed all thes

Similar experience, generated code confidently, manually had to copy paste it in places, only to find out not only it is bad but even the code was terribly structured / random gibberish sometimes.

I did try F#, but I was new to .NET ecosystem. For 1 "hello world" I was quite surprised by how many project files and boilerplate was generated by .NET, which put me off. I am all for FP, immutable, and modern languages. But then

No need for complex async / event loop stuff. VTs can be spawned by millions and they will not block the thread (/CPU) while doing IO, in this (win-win) scenario there is no value in doing complex (and 2 colored) async programming

Not just names, but a separate file and a package to fit in. I need a small data object, sorry, you have to put it in a separate file and then think of the package it goes in and so on and so forth. Not to mention in Spring you then need to

Yeah, I mean now we can start using VTs on any system / lib without being worried of pinning. Isn't this a "huge" deal? Why is the community not shouting from the rooftops about this? Theoretically it means, Java has now

What will be the implications of this? e.g. Can we now handle more req/sec on I/O blocking services, because more requests can be serviced by VTs and they will not be blocked waiting for IO, so kinda like Node.js async model (for

Unfortunately, this is not just applicable to Europe, this is applicable in a lot of places in the world. Imagine this in a hierarchical, subversive, "elders are always right" societies in Asia (or South Asia).
