An important note: If you plan on sticking to an editor that has LSP integration like Vim/VSCode and so, stay away from Ruby as Ruby's language server solargraph is just not good. Personally, this is my main reason for staying awa

Have been using it for a while. Can’t overstate how much better the experience has been compared to LaTeX. As someone who had to use LaTeX not out of choice, I’m so grateful this exists so that I can no longer bother to decipher the mess of

Applies the same to job search too. Find one that is good enough and then work from there for future prospects. Often, the definition of “good” changes over time as priorities in life change.

I haven’t seen a simultaneous outage as big as this in my entire life. I’m just hoping this gets enterprises to move off of Windows.

The syntax just doesn’t sit right with me due to some reason. It gives me the same heebie jeebies as Python’s decorators. Not a fan of either. Maybe I need to get used to them.

And people ask me why I like CLIs, TUIs, Vim, Tmux and so. I’m so tired of these ever changing bullshit visual designs that sacrifice functionality in favour of form just so they can appeal to the “dumb” audience. Stop treating me like them

Everything looks great except for it being written in Python. I’ll work on developing something similar with Go.

I have an unspoken rule: Don’t build software that I expect to be used by others in a language I’m not familiar with. Unfamiliarity with domain + the language is a recipe for disaster. Just my $0.2.

[CS 402 - Operating Systems][1] at USC during my Master's. I really wanted to develop a mini kernel which I couldn't do in my Bachelor's. This course blew every other thing I ever did out of the water. Was a big reality check

I can’t be bothered to use a language that doesn’t have a good LSP (need it for Neovim), so Swift is an easy pass.

This is still alive? Thought it would be long shut down by now. RIP to the poor souls working on a dying product.

What about scriptability? Is Zellij as hackable as Tmux to create different plugins?

Great explanation. If anyone has good references for learning this by making a minimal editor like sed from scratch, please share. Wait, now that I think about it, does the name “Zed” draw inspiration from “sed”? If yes, that’s rad.

This was one of the main reasons I got the library card. It’s so worth it.

Hard agree. I see the advantages but the initial learning curve is incredibly steep. Funny how this mimics my experience with Rust.

Can’t be bothered with Kotlin as you have no choice but to use IntelliJ to work with it.

In a similar boat. On that note, if someone wants to maintain a number in US forever only for the sake of receiving texts (MFA) and call (only if urgent, capability can be added as a temporary add-on on the spot), what is the cheapest optio

I’d recommend checking out MIT’s Distributed Systems course. All its videos and assignments are available online and teach you everything you would need to get into these systems and go in depth in them.

I have a question for big companies building software in Rust. How are they able to find the talent? Unlike most other common languages, it is magnitudes more difficult to ramp up entry level new hires in Rust for the simple reason that Rus
