I think that's a good approach. If you end up using it a lot and want something more, then you can always upgrade later on :) YumAsia ship to most of Europe and have some cheaper models, if that's useful to you.

I'm not too sure what others models will do it, but this is the one I have and they call it "Yumami": https://www.yumasia.co.uk/bamboo-induction-heating-ceramic-r... I originally went for it because there hon

I use a Japanese-style rice cooker and mine will do this I believe, and even has a specific tahdig setting, though as I have nothing to compare it to, I can't attest to its authenticity :) https://www.yumasia.co.uk/bamb

Good lord this is one of the saltiest posts I've ever seen on here, which is an accomplishment. The simple lesson here is: what is easy for you is not necessarily easy for everyone else, and you should not get pissy if you state your o

Finance in London does pay well, but there are plenty of engineering opportunities as well. I would say that UK junior and mid engineer roles are in general worse-paid than in the USA, but senior roles are competitive. Getting a big salary

I have a similar relationship to Grafana as I do for Prometheus; love it for my home and I've got some very useful graphs for my home network, but it's almost unusable for work due to its speed degradation the moment you start add

Yeah the pushgateway was the alternative to using InfluxDB. In the end we actually used Datadog for it, despite the cost, as it was just easier to scale on it (we had hundreds of devices per site). The pushgateway route with Prometheus just

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Prometheus. At home I really like it; it was simple to set up for my needs and most of my configuration is on my server which then scrapes other machines for the data. However I find it qui

Personally I swapped from rbenv to asdf a while back. I don't think there's any real justification for one over another these days, just use the one you're comfortable with :D

Seconding NieR: Automata. It's a pretty quirky game with tight controls and combat, which is a plus, but the story is interesting and has a lot of variety. In a similar sci-fi vein I've just started on Detroit: Beyond Human, which

I hate the UglyBar so much. I've got a user style to fix it but my god, who thought it was a good idea? It's so much worse and it didn't need doing.

One of my all-time favourite sci-fi shows. The setting manages to mix the banal and the excitement of space so well.

Good question! If I'm sat listening to someone in person spinning a yarn then I have no issues, although story-telling seems oddly different to a written story somehow. I don't really listen to audiobooks because I find it quite h

Dark modes are a choice. Light modes are a choice. Everyone is free to choose what they like, so trying to influence people one way or another, or criticising their choice, is unproductive. I live in Wales, a country where our default weath
