This is exactly why intellectual property systems (as they exist today) hinder, more than help, innovation. Chart.js was a good step forward for web data visualization tools. It deserves to exist.

EDIT: When I say i'm not into it, I don't mean I mind people using things I've made as building blocks for their own creations. I just think if you're going to use something, make something new/better out of it.

I'm not into people directly using the exact files I create myself (I mean, do your own work). But I don't think anybody owns the idea of "three cogs", "a newspaper that curls to the left", or "a head with a speech bubble". Don't get me sta

Agreed. I've mostly forgone using bootstrap-like foundations because of this issue. It's a lot easier to build something custom from scratch than to undo all the bootstrapped stuff. Maybe it gets you some pretty button styles off the starti

I'm sorry, am I missing something? Is it really that hard to just turn off your mail app during periods of in-depth work, and then turn it back on when you want to spend some time with your inbox?

The direct copying by other sites is definitely lame, but I don't see anything here I'd want to copy. The crazy load time makes the site almost unusable (as I write this, the page is frozen, and still loading... maybe use fewer http request

I agree. Low or lack of mobile visitors was the only good reason for not using responsive design. Regarding time, it's all experience. Personally I don't think it takes too much extra effort to implement. Constraining the design is more of

I don't think the OP's point is a strawman, but a redirection of focus. I've seen it in my own clients. They get wrapped up in the buzz of 'mobile' and forget that they have a website, an email list, print material, trade-show booths, and p

Bank "security" = forced < 8 digit alphanumeric code that can be overridden on the phone if someone knows my birthday. I know because I hacked into my own bank account anonymously and was able to transfer funds. Best I can do is refresh

I feel skeptical. "We'll have robots delivering packages to your door within a decade" has been said before, and AGI may or may not even be possible. Our understanding of how we work is still very limited. I'd like to see what new insights

This seems like an interesting article, but I was only able to read a few paragraphs before all the letters got jumbled in my visual cortex and I got a headache. For the love of god, light text on a dark background is a bad idea: http://

Seems like they're grasping at straws. Clearly the media industry is in decline if it needs to resort to such underhanded methods of "creating" new content.

Brand credibility can be hurt by simple things like grammar: "With Condoly it's easy to manager your condominium..."

I agree. Define "useful functionality needed by most condos". From what I could glean from the site I don't see an added value over and above a condo-specific Facebook or G+ page. I assume there must be some great condo-specific functionali

I had a similar experience. I was refreshing the page at 8:30-8:40 and when it finally gave me "add to cart" I spent about 10-15 minutes trying to get through until finally got sent back to "coming soon". It was very fast. I understand poss

I agree that the UX for the error messages and the infrastructure crapping out was bad, but I think the marketing strategy of a limited supply selling out so quickly makes some sense (everybody's talking about it and the 2nd round will prob

I agree. I completed a similar e-commerce app for a client in Canada and, honestly, it wasn't too hard to make 13 optional, client-editable, tax percent values that get tacked on to an order before being sent for payment processing. Just ta
