Definitely use ASDF for managing it. I’ve started using it for Node too and I quite like it, even though I was pretty hesitant to start using yet another package manager.

I wasn’t aware of shoelace, I’ll take a look! I think the starter kit would be beneficial, just a way of laying out how the pieces fit together.

I like the idea of Lit a lot, but every time I’ve tried to use it, it feels kind of unclear what the intended way of using it actually is. Like, what an actual code base that uses it heavily would look like. All of their example code seems

That’s wild, super cool that you guys were trying to make that work so long ago. I can see how people unfamiliar with that way of thinking would be completely lost. Especially in the context of a daw which is basically a wall of buttons and

It’s true that you can dump a project into a git repo, but the real problem is diffing. It would be pretty miserable trying to reconcile any significant changes or conflicts. What I think would be cool is a tool for auditioning and merging

DAW version control is one of my dreams. If I could have a really tight git equivalent for reaper projects, it’d be so cool. Plugins are, as usual, the biggest barrier there. Doesn’t seem like there will ever be a good way to deal with diff

I’m fairly new to elixir, but the two things I liked the least were having to use asdf to get a working version of it that didn’t fight with the language server, and really the language server not being particularly smart or fleshed out. It

Very cool. I haven’t quite worked out how, but I wonder if you could use this for writing really fast integration tests somehow for CI workflows, using some subset of real (or I guess more like curated) data. Also love that the sync layer i

Ha, I still use that as my “backup” keyboard at work. Came with the 21” iMac my parents bought in 2010. Sometimes you just need a break from the key travel of a mechanical.

This website looks hilariously mangled on mobile. Which at first I kind of expected, until it said at the bottom it was updated in 2022.

I am, at this exact moment, getting bodied by a ulimit problem on mac. Apparently with pacman, directories attached with bind mounts have a fixed ulimit of 64 internally and running npm install inside a mounted project explodes completely b

This sounds great. I had a MOTU AVB setup for a while which does exactly this, but it’s locked to their hardware. A non vendor locked version or app would be insanely useful.

Do you have any recommendations or resources you think are great for learning more about this? I think I’m right at the beginning of this journey and looking for where to start.

The Wilhelm scream is a classic, but I always find the Howie scream way funnier. It’s so much weirder and finds itself jammed into more diverse uses, I think cause it has a little bit of an inhuman or non-vocal quality to it.

Sveltekit has a thing now where when I do the standard ctrl shift c and highlight something, it’ll open the file in vscode responsible for it. It’s honestly a little bit unsettling, but I think it’ll be useful with some practice.

I built a little micro CMS backend for myself that I’m working on open sourcing which is pretty much this. It parses markdown files with frontmatter into html on startup and stores them in an in memory SQLite database. So you have no real c

This is good to know! I’ll try out DaisyUI next! My favourite part about skeleton has been having mostly functional, pre-existing component classes. The svelte material ui (smui?) library left a lot to be desired there, and I like how easy

I haven’t tried flutter! It looks interesting, but I don’t have much interest in learning Dart so it’s pretty low on the list of things to try, for me. I have experience with Capacitor and Vue, which kind of accomplishes the same cross plat

Alright, I’m gonna be that guy. Right now, sveltekit + skeleton has absolutely blown my mind at how fast you can make a usable prototype. It’s honestly insane. You don’t even need to know svelte, really. As long as you can understand the fi

I dunno if it’s just me, but every time I’ve used NextJs I’ve run into weird pointy edges like that. It looks so polished from the outside but then starts feeling wonky as soon as I start to use it.

I can’t speak for all ORMs but I’ve found over the last couple years that I really like Mongoose. It’s proven to consistently be one of the least troublesome parts of our stack, and once you get to know the ins and outs, it provides a ton o

I don’t think sample really implies it has to be digital at all. “Sampling” can mean what you said, but I think a mellotron is very much a sampler by most definitions. It plays back a chunk of a pre-existing recording.

So cool! I love all the bells and whistles. At some point in my life, I’d love to witness someone playing one of those enormous Wurlitzer theatre organs that need basically entire buildings to house them.

Really? Which soundcard? I’ve always understood the core audio stuff to be very hassle free. That sounds like a huge problem and I’m really surprised the manufacturer didn’t fix that immediately unless it’s very legacy hardware.
