One factor that needs to be considered is that in Korea, as in many Asian regions, people are expected to look after their parents when they get old. Society and social security have been build around this assumption.

Purely anecdotal. I have seen a few people on HN and Reddit complaining about their outgoing mail being quarantined due to having a sensitive word in it and the support staff reading the email without their consent.

Most people recycle passwords. You can say they are doing the wrong thing but it's the reality. When that recycled password inevitably gets pwned, 2FA makes the account more secure.

This is because it's the main route for money going in and out of China. Pretty much all of the commercial activity in Hong Kong is either trading/investing activities with China or facilitating trade/investment in China
