I’ve read the article but don’t see details on there about Canada having restrictions on buying homes. Can you elaborate on what the restrictions are, outside of the price being too high for many people? I imagine the person you’re replying

This is a common thread on heat pump threads, where numbers like 300% efficiency are quoted. The explanation, as I understand it, is that it’s not creating 3 or 4 kW of heat for each kW of power drawn: it’s moving those 3 or 4 kW from outsi

I remember it, I feel that focusing just on that portion of the quote is a cherry-picked view. There was more to the quote that showed a misunderstanding of the system, which, at least in my circles, caused a lot of the mockery: > an Int

You’re absolutely right! My bad, I appear to have forgotten that rule by the time I commented. Glad I called it a violation :)

The nuance on that one felt odd. I said that it did violate the rule (even the spirit of the rule, being a large motor vehicle), because it was a binary question. I also felt the rule violation was justified and that they shouldn’t be calle

The comment they were replying to didn’t sound long term. It specified “now” in the first sentence, so at best short-medium term. The “everyone just needs to do <x>” part wasn’t a reference to a long term idea, it was them replying to

On the other hand: why? Browsers already have a back button that works that way. Users are used to back buttons on the page moving up some in-app hierarchy, which, admittedly maybe they oughtn’t be used to because maybe it’s not a good patt

Weaponized “kindness” sounds a little bit oxymoronic to me, would what’s being weaponized not be closer to “niceness”? Unless it’s second-order / indirect through people meaning well.

In my personal experience, inner monologue can vary within an individual as well. Some days mine is similar to what you’ve described (“me hungry, want lasagna” - love it!) but other times it can be 2-4 voices all debating a topic from diffe

He did specify high school though, rather than college/university (or a generic like “school” or “academia”). We’re probably all over-reading this quote but it did come off as a “grow up” comment in my reading as well, intended or not.

Not believing in Gambler’s Fallacy is already believing there will be more “20 in a row same side than 21 in a row same side” - its believing there are 50% more in a way. After the 20 have landed the next flip will still be 50/50. Ju
