I'm curious, in what way is a famous person (made famous by their own creative works) using their existing fame to raise money for a good cause an "attention getting scheme"? Seems pretty common place.

White on black can create a very difficulty reading experience. It may increase the contrast, but that's not the only factor in readability. I personally prefer light text on dark background, but never white on black. Silver an a dark blue

PSR-2 isn't trying to say that there is one correct answer. Instead they're trying to provide a single answer from the many valid possibilities. "When various authors collaborate across multiple projects, it helps to have one set of guideli

I just star anything that needs response and leave everything in the inbox. If you need it, you can add different color stars to represent whatever you want. I don't understand why people feel the need to archive. Seems like procrastination

If he still plays diablo 2, he's used to games being obscenely cheap per hour of play. As is, 1000 hours for 50 dollars. Also, he said exactly how much he thinks his $60 is worth in very specific terms: all the Indian food he can buy for $4

You should have calculated for inflation. Without it, your numbers appear misleading. 7.5 billion in 1987 is the equivalent of 15.1 billion today. So they've had no effective increase in budget. Which helps us to choose the right question:

I'm curious why this was down voted into being grayed out, within 20 minutes of being posted and with no replies to it. edit: seems it got better.

Ah, great. That's a good update. Go does end up responding well at 1000 concurrent requests for real memory. But a spike in virtual memory means it's paging all that extra data, right? Doesn't that normally slow things down? what's interest

This test shows Node handling 100 requests simultaneously just as easily as handling them separately. However Go's memory usage increases by about 5X. So what happens when you reach 1000 simultaneous requests? Which will perform better then

So you're saying that it's not about punishing the criminals, that it's about deterring people from becoming criminals. It's arguable if that kind of policy is effective. Also, it comes across like folks actually are still mad about it.

No easy answer to this. All the tech companies do it, and if you start legislating the loopholes closed, they'll go to another state and maybe even another country. And you can't expect the companies to change on their own. They'd be sued i

Regardless, if it wasn't for facebook it would be happening on flickr or instagram or any other sharing site. The problem is a legal one, not something that facebook can simply add as a feature. (Though they do have a way to report a photo

Let me rephrase. Using 75% implies a certain level of authority I don't have. "I think it will take a bigger imbalance before people start worrying about a gender imbalance in favor of men."

Do bias, discrimination, and biological differences not drive preferences? Kids internalize the bias of the culture around them at an early age. Why is this a mystery to the authors? Referenced Quote from Article: "While bias, discriminatio

"Significantly" is an exaggeration. The numbers i found ( http://www.acenet.edu/AM/Template.cfm?Section=News_Room&... ) said that women earn 57% of all BS degrees. I imagine it'd have to get closer to 75% before people actually started
