Curious if that answers the "I genuinely don't know what is going on here" then? Not searching hidden files (or third-party dependencies, which `rg` also does automatically with its ignore parsing) isn't just a nice to h

Out of curiosity, how would you recursively grep files ignoring (hidden files [e.g., `.git`]), only matching a certain file extension? (E.g., `rg -g '*.foo' bar`.) I use the command line a lot too and this is one of my most common

I tried the test in Logic Pro, and Logic can split, join, reverse, all without creating any new files. It seems this varies per DAW. > I don't know much about video but, video editing is simpler, you probably have a GPU to take a go

What's the difference between a joined clip and the two separate clips sitting right next to each other in the timeline besides how they're presented in the UI? Also I can do all of these options in an NLE like Adobe Premiere with

I did a quick test in Ableton Live, and I was able to copy, paste, split, and re-arrange without creating any new files. But joining clips and reversing clips did create new files (I was surprised joining did so in particular, it somewh

To address your point specifically though, Webflow is (at least from my perspective) the inevitable result of the line of thinking you're pursuing. So I'd be curious what you think of Figma vs. Webflow, and why those two products

Adding to the sh implementation, `find -L "$HOME" -maxdepth 1 -type l -exec rm {} +` will clean up dead symlinks in your home directory, e.g., if a dotfile is deleted because it's not needed anymore.

Ah, good point, this isn’t `oh-my-zsh` but it does require a couple of options to work as described: 1. `setopt autopushd pushdsilent`: This is the key component, `autopushd` automatically adds directories to the directory stack (and `pushd

To me, the interesting conversation here is between these three workflows: 1. Recursive directory fuzzy-search 2. Searching history for `cd` commands 3. Zoxide-style matching visited directories Which are all ways to make it easier to trave

What do you mean? Zoxide isn't a shell, it's just a CLI program. It doesn't involve changing shells, you can see the list of supported shells in the README (it's more comparable to fzf than a shell, it ships with optiona

`cd foo` is useless in history if you're not already in foo's parent directory. This is the problem Zoxide solves, `z foo` will still do something useful in that case. (Side note about fzf, recursively fuzzy finding subdirectories

- Recursive directory tab completion isn't viable for many key use cases (it'll hang with both monorepos and networked volumes). The only thing that makes zoxide viable is that it only matches against visited directories. (Similar

Yeah the problem with this approach to me is populating the history with a bunch of cd to absolute paths to begin with, which is not something I'd do natural (I have many ways I'm navigating the file system), and definitely wouldn

The issue for me with this approach is one: It assumes a clear root for a project (e.g., your base you're cd-ing off of), I think that's only good assumption for small-scale projects? E.g., sufficient complexity, for programming a

This will hang if you have too many subdirectories (e.g., a good-sized company's monorepo). A networked volumes will also often cause it to hang. (PS: In Zsh `cd -<tab>` will show a pop up menu of all directories in the history s

I think you're misunderstanding the authors intention. Fuzzy finding is the banner feature of zoxide , i.e., it's only a better cd because it includes that feature. Everything else is just the necessary table stakes features in o

That's not default behavior in most shells (e.g., `autocd` in Zsh, and, for the record, that's also not default up arrow behavior in Bash or Zsh [it is in Fish]). But my question is specifically about relative vs. absolute paths w

How are you using Zsh history to navigate to specific folders? E.g., does that mean you always start your `cd` from the home directory (e.g., `~`)? I'm asking because it's usually less key strokes to `cd` to a relative directory (
