Martin is right, but I did want some feedback on the first draft of my résumé too. I agree my skills list does look bad. Just listing a selection of gems and mentioning a few website does not a skill set make. I'll take a look today and try

Apologies for the link bait nature of the title. I'm a bit new to the business of self promotion. Perhaps I sometimes get carried away when dreaming up ways to get Mighty CV noticed. Agreed - skills list looks lame. Time to refactor.

If any of you guys actually go and sign up for a Mighty CV I must apologise if you encounter a fail whale when you try to view your résumé. This is most likely to happen if you use the LinkedIn importer to create your résumé. My number one

I sort of figured this when building Mighty CV. It's a résumé building app aimed at hackers that I've just launched. As Jason's point illustrates, I think what's most useful to potential employers is to be able to see a snapshot of activity

I agree the original poster doesn't really seem to get what LinkedIn is for. It sounds like he might be looking for something like the app I just launched about an hour ago after 2 months working on getting it to MVP stage. It does have a n

That's exactly what I'm banking on with the new app I'm developing http://www.mightycv.com . I needed a new résumé and didn't like the more generic builders I found out their. I wanted a résumé builder that worked for hackers and integrate

I think the first 10k a month app will inevitably be the hardest, but like Justin says it'll be a lot easier than becoming the next Facebook or Google. Most people chase/fantasize about being the next Google because they think it will buy t

My new résumé app/service aimed at hackers has integration with github, hacker news and stackoverflow. You can see at a glance what people have been up to on these sites by looking in the sidebar of any Mighty CV powered résumé. Though inte

A personal recommendation from Patrick or someone else as high profile here on HN must be like gold dust in the early stages. It's just the sort of recommendation and publicity that I'd love to get for my new startup when I launch the priva

I'm guessing the downvotes are because I've crossed the line I was worried about in this post: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2287643 Apologies, I really didn't want to come across as being spammy.

I whole heartedly agree with this, it also really felt like the post author was describing a really specific situation. Perhaps one where he was that middle class guy and the other guy was someone who just got the raise he wanted. I don't k

This post is genius I'm off out to buy a pack of Maltesers right now - I hate M&Ms. It made me think of this picture too: http://londonleisureandpleasure.blogspot.com/2011/02/you-hav... A friend of mine sent it to me a while back but

Thanks for all the great advice so far, I've removed the centred text as suggested which I think is an improvement. Instead of running a time limited offer of one year free service I've decided not to make the offer time limited and instead

It was a bit of a tongue in cheek reference to this thread. It's not a calculation performed by Mighty CV. In the résumé builder that text equates to a free form text input called Professional Title. You can write whatever you like in there
