Yeah, sadly you're not guaranteed some of the things that are needed for this to work. I defo believe the story that it took Knuth a day to figure this out, although when you see the answer it's pretty easy to understand.

I just looked at this for 30 seconds, do you just XOR everything together? Then you could XOR it with all the numbers 1 to n again to get just the duplicate number, as every number would appear in the XOR twice except the duplicate number w

It doesn't sound like any of these regulations were a success, given Apple still has the monopoly power to extract 26% of the fees taken, and make the process so cumbersome that most developers would probably be better off staying on I

Yes, we subscribe to a few CS/eng blogs with our company Slack and use the threads for discussions. Sadly https://blog.acolyer.org/ doesn't update any more but that was one of the favourites.

Really depends on the business. I'd argue that for forging product market fit, there's nothing better than a small team sharing a common space, feeding off each other's creative energy. For later stage companies where you

I've also found paying strangers on Monzo to be ridiculously easy, you both turn on bluetooth and go to "pay nearby" screen. You just ask them "Are you <full name>?" to verify, then send money.

My first job was for a telecoms startup, this concept is called "glare" there. E.g. I go to touch the screen to make a call, but someone starts calling my while my finger is in motion so the UI changes and I press a button that I

There's other things they can do rather than just more patrols. At my university town in the UK the police would plant bait bikes and watch from afar, arresting thieves after they rode off. I know they caught some, because they caught
