Everything on Heroku is billed with a huge margin, plus as they're probably a partnered customer by now their pricing is a fraction of the average AWS customers pricing. I've been at companies on both sides of the partner pricing

With the likely culprit they won't get blamed just a bullet in the back of the head and a bill for it sent to the family.

Time to intercept and reverse engineer the traffic between your game and the servers, build up a local server and store your saves where you control them. Regulatory action is the only way that this will change, hopefully the EU puts their

Sounds like they're looking to get bought up to me. I'm sure they could monetize their current hardware, and build to sell just like other niche hardware vendors. Anyone remember the hype around big "cloud" storage boxes

That's interesting, something that I've been really wanting to get into as well, but where I am there is literally no venture capital to raise for this at the moment. I'd be interested to know more and/or bounce some ide

So you're suggesting the game engine model, you're free to use this software for whatever until you make $x from it? Unity was like that before they screwed it up, I have heard of other systems as well but not sure since it's

This sounds hilarious. I might have to start a campaign to take over as many internet facing boxes as possible and the only change I'll do is to set the root shell to vi-mode.

The biggest gripe I have with every "new" language, be it a lisp, c-derivative or some variant of javascript is that I rarely see a comparison side by side of something useful on any of the first 3 pages of the documentation. I se

I saw a "Do you want to try this new AI" in my Win 11 VM today, it's disgusting that they can send ADS into MY system with EVERYTHING shut off, I mean tracking, ads, statistics, usage, help, everything that can be turned off

I absolutely love how we are going full circle to portable executable binaries but with embedded OS. Taking the whole "it works on my machine" to a whole new level of troubleshooting hell. Awesome project though.

Yes, cloud services have inflated both bandwidth and amortized hardware costs to absurd levels. You pay for not having to know what to do in order to run something online. Until it breaks.

This will keep happening as long as people are unable to learn from the past. Yes it's expensive to have a good experienced infrastructure engineer on the team, but at least you know there's someone testing your backups and proced
