The wsj article was kind of from an idiot. At the same time, it's true there aren't enough chargers and we are building them out and it should be as easy as "just drive". Separate from that, if you have a tesla, this pro

That turns out not to be a problem in the us, because the increased electricity use by expected ev charging is contained in our 2 or 3% increase per year. I expected this will be true for other places. Also in the us you find that people ar

If you have an accessible 120v outlet, it's extremely likely you can charge just with that. Evidence - had an ev since 2012, using only 120 volts. Only the most inefficient recent evs argue for higher voltage. The reasons 120v garage c

That slide deck is pretty interesting just to see the 10k foot vision of a game. I'm working at that level in infrastructure software and the vision of what comes together for the game development and design is fun to see.

What most commentators are missing here is that Snowflake had a significant revenue reduction when they improved the efficiency of their product, ie they could do more with less customer cost, less cpu use. This is similar to AWS lowering p

Because it's a good, realistic comparison. Pointing out Germany was too dependent on Russia for natural gas - good point. Saying the US would drop out of NATO - not a good strategy for stability. If you wanted to point out a Trump comm

If those other areas didn't export their drug users to the big cities, what would the situation be in the big cities? It's like if drinking was only allowed in New Orleans, wouldn't all the drunks and abusers of alcohol go th

It certainly feels like ice propaganda, a great way to summarize. These companies say they will have an edge but today they are at 0 in AMG and Ferrari. They are in danger of being superseded by entirely new companies building EVs, and not

Interesting story, I enjoyed it. If you ever perused the MIT Guide to Lockpicking you'll probably find this story interesting. I would like to see another level of detail that talks about what challenges he faced in the various crimes.

earth to earth starship flights are way away and will be vastly more expensive. Plus more risky. You are lifting that giant ship up into space. It must be less efficient than a winged flyer - even a fast one like boom's, because it won

Your list was surprising but I'm in infrastructure software. There seems endless demand for c++, java and lately rust as the languages used for database implementations.

That may be, but it wins because it's vastly better than all the alternatives, except tesla or a few other leading 'new car companies' like rivian.

There were news articles that they revised this law for the rivian and presumably the f150ev. At first people ran into this weight / registration issue.

I'll agree with that. Yet I alsonever want to buy anything from an enforced middleman again. First I avoided that with Tesla, and now I did it with Rivian. It does have some bugs, so did my last car I bought 20 years ago form a major m

There's one thing you can do to have a shot at getting a rivian quicker. Spec one out that matches the current launch edition (4 motors, don't get the ocean coast interior, get the tonneau cover) and you might just get one. People

EV trucks are here now and they are fast. Both the F150-EV and the Rivian R1T are very fast because of their electric drive trains. I'm hoping not to see an increase in pedestrian accidents but time will tell.

One major advantage of a pickup truck is carrying dirty stuff without getting the inside of an suv dirty. Even a small bed can carry things. Small bed pickup trucks make them easier to park and drive, they must be more efficient too. I woul
