The checksum is really interesting and would be useful even today. I have looked for the scripts but the links are all gone [1], unfortunately. EDIT: I have found it[2], finally. It's pretty sad that so much of the internet is getting

I'm on NixOS and QEMU is well integrated in Nix. You can write a system configuration, generate a QEMU VM and run it. Also all NixOS automatic tests[1] are running in QEMU VMs that are generated from a Nix configuration. The most beaut

DNSCrypt has been around for a decade and works really well. Did everyone forget about it? It's objectively better than running DNS queries over HTTPS: still UDP based, no need to trust a CA but only the DNS server public key, can be c

I have been fighting this but I gave up: people just don't care or are somewhat opposed, even when presented with a backword compatible patch. Now I just mount the home directory with rewritefs and try make the mess more or less compli

Check how unique your fingerprint is using panopticlick[1] and try to fix it by adopting more common settings. Also don't use Firefox Focus: it has telemetry and shares data with a third party[2]. Use the german version[3] if you must,

In the worst case the ISP will give you a /64 prefix which you can complete to form an IPv6 address via SLAAC. Operating systems will generate many different temporary addresses with a short lifetime and use those for outbound connecti

I think the specification has a problem if a conformant implementation has a problem, particularly if it's a security one. There should be as little as possible left free to the implementors. The KRACK attack from a couple months ago i
